apparently I had a hairline crack in my rim and took it to Houston wheel repair at 7070 Southwest Fwy, Houston, TX because a friend recommended them.

My rim was a 17inch alloy rim and the crack was professionally TIG welded but my car seems a bit more bumpier.. was my rim poorly welded or do welded rims never ride the same?

Yea that should have nothing to do with the repair of the wheel. They probably didn't balance the tires after putting them back on the wheel.

well the reason the rim cracked is because I hit a massive pothole so it could have damaged my alignment?

Aligment has more to do with your steering. That massive pothole hit may have damaged your sidewall and created a ball on your tire.

Sorry to hear, but at least you know. Get the alignment checked too. Don't want to ruin that new tire

You also might want to check on your suspension as that pothole (depending on the severity of it) could have blown out that one shock. It's not a high possibility but it could happen.

After getting that tire fixed, might as well have them balance all four wheels just to be on the safe side.

no biggie... I always get tire warranty because of how bad our roads are...

anyway the guy at discount tire said even though the rim is fixed, it will never spin perfectly again, he also said that weld weighs more than rest of the wheel and another crack will eventually surface

additionally, my other wheel is not perfectly round, a minor bend

more of a reason for you to get all 4 wheels balanced. if these are stock/factory rims you can find decent deals for them on ebay.

I did, none of my wheels spin true... they all are off a bit but nothing really noticeable... they get 3-4 bmw customers at discount tire with a cracked/bent rim each day
