Would kind of be sad to know that he gets cuts strictly because of Dorsey's contract next year. Not sure why the Rockets thought it was a good idea to give Joey guaranteed $ next season. Unless the only way he would take an offer in the NBA is knowing he wouldn't be cut from a preseason roster.... which could very well be the case we are looking at.
Dammit. Updated. Sticking with Canaan over Ish. I don't think either of them are going to play a lot anyway, so may as well stick with the one who has a bit more upside. Also, because I think this team will values shooters more than penetrators.
I am pretty sure that the Rockets would be willing to trade one of their young guys, maybe even for just a heavily protected 1st round or a 2nd round pick in return, if it is what is needed to make room for an end of roster guy who impressed (like Black or Adrien). DMo, Jones, Canaan and Capela are all candidates for such a trade.
Nah, I dont think Adrien has played well enough to trade any of our drafted players. He's undersized he is the one that needs to get cut.
I love Adrien's hustle but a combination of Dorsey and Black replace a little bit of the defence and rebounding we lost with Asik gone.
I think the rules permit the release of 3 players cut from training camp to your D-League affiliate now.
This is the same rule for last year also, which Rockets cut 3 guys and stashed in the Vipers - Daniels, BJ Young and a guy I forgot the name (Henrique?). There is talk that the list could expand to 4 but I guess the vote was not passed yet. However, it doesn't mean whoever the Rockets cut will automatic sign with the Viper even they were not claim by other teams, seasoned vet like Dorsey, Garcia for example, will not play for the D-league contract but rather find an overseas contract or just wait for other team's interest.
Jordan Henriquez. And I was thinking of Akil Mitchell being a possible third. Thx for clarification, though -- I knew there had been talk of expansion but couldn't recall if it was from 2 to 3 or 3 to 4.
they probably were going to keep adrien and Dorsey originally. they brought in black to try him out for vipers I think and his strong showing has changed that somewhat
I think if you need the cash you make the trade for another player then. So if you cut Dorsey now and next year you really need the cash, THEN you trade a pick with someone like Capella. But I wouldn't pay just yet...just cut.
Here's to all the guys suggesting our veterans are maybe going to get cut: Sounds like Black is not going to make the team though...
I didn't get that from reading that article And the other quotes from mchale. He said Tarik was playing his way into playing time, which I would take to mean that he will make the roster. I think it has to be at Dorsey's expense. He is just more athletic than Dorsey. I don't know who is better big man defender though. I think either ish or Canaan is cut. I just haven't seen enough from ish to keep him over Canaan. Even though he hasn't shown much either, at least he has upside. Neither will play more than 5 minutes if terry is fit.
Garcia should be cut. I liked him when he was a younger player prior to his injuries with the Kings. He hasn't done much for us, apart from giving Durant a tough time, 2 seasons ago. They should retain Black, and move Canaan or Ish.
Forgot about Garcia. He should definitely be cut after last season and with Daniels, terry and kostas on team.
