Answer the question instead of doing a two step side-step. Why so passionate about Lin, are you this passionate about all mediocre players? If that's your main gripe, direct your criticism at that subset. (I rarely see those type of statements anymore anyways, but still a ton of haters) But don't lump an entire group of people together just because they like Lin, come in here sh**ing on this thread like its your own living room. Save the drama for your mama.
There were so many lin fans who disrespected clutch. Now we fight back and they cower in fear. Our weapon is the truth. That's what they hate the most. The race and good boy who makes corny videos doesn't change any of the basketball issues.
Haters have to come pollute this thread cause there's nowhere else to go. If Patrick Beverley could average Lin's numbers in his 100+ starts he'll be hailed a hero! He averages about half the #' and already is.
And for good reason, he was balling out of his mind then.... With the Rockets he was about 40% of what he was in New York so what do you expect? Not condoning racial jokes just the criticism of his game.
An all defensive 2nd teamer who doesn't turn it over combined with Lins offensive game would be a top 5 PG and should be hailed as a hero. Also, #s don't mean everything.
Let's stop pretending it was all rosy and friendly during Yao's tenure here. Some familiar people were posting similar posts over and over again back then, to justify the "criticizing" or better to say nitpicking, even on good games. Back then, you have to put in a disclaimer that you think Yao is nowhere near Dream's level, if you put Yao and Dream in the same paragraph, no matter the context. Some people were "offended" in the name of the team and basketball reasons. Tinman used to post Dream's photos in many of those Yao threads, as he does in Lin threads with Yao's photo. But people are fine when T. Daniels is compared with Ray Allen now. There were ugly moments/posts/threads, though not as heated or hateful, comparing to Lin's time here. Yao, as one of the cornerstones of the team, wasn't blamed solely for the Dallas series for 5 consecutive missing FTs or those 3 consecutive missing rebounds for the Jazz series. Lin, on the other hand, the backup scrub, overpaid (for 5 million) role player, was blamed for the Blazers series. Here are a few noticeable differences: 1. There weren't too many teenagers posting back then 2. There weren't too many Asians crying picture collection 3. Clutch crews did NOT officially endorse the YOF term 4. There were less Yao fans blaming everything around him Disclaimer: 1. I don't think Yao was near Dream's level, nor was Lin near Yao's level 2. I don't follow tweets of anyone, and I don't vote for all star, not even for TMac or Yao 3. I don't follow any player to any other fan sites, for love/hate of said player, or whatever feelings towards a group of fans (this is the most bizarre reason)
Not hate just criticism towards overrated and overpaid mediocre players I directed it at the subset but if your feelings get hurt then you must be one of them
You really want to make this point as a Lin fan? The dude averages 12/4 and has his own personal fan club following him from team to team. If Lin put up Mo William's numbers he'd be hailed as a god. I don't see any of that fanaticism around Beverley.
How does pointing out that Lin did not call a timeout as instructed, did not take better care of the ball and turning it over, and did not close out on mo Williams afterwards be considered just pure hating? Can you post quotes by anyone who said Lin is the ONLY reason we lost the series?
So answer this question, what's your issue with Lin having a following or having fans?? Why does that bother you??? Please answer. To your second point, if some regarded Lin as a "god" for having Mo Williams numbers, why exactly does that bother you? As a member of this message board, it bothers me that Bev gets hailed a hero, Troy Daniels get Ray Allen comparisons, while Lin consistently gets the short of the stick, because it has racist undertones reminiscent of Yao Ming's tenure.
How has Lin gotten the short end of the stick...I've seen comparisons to all types of players from Steve Nash to Tony Parker...etc. And I've seen those comparisons on numerous occasions. I've seen Lin fans say he's better than John Wall. I don't see anyone saying things like that about Beverley. Fanaticism bothers me because I talk to the fans. None of us talk to Beverley or Lin or any of these players. We converse on a day to day basis with other NBA fans.
Says someone had 50+ posts in this thread alone. Way to throw out the straw man argument, as you've practiced so well in any discussion Lin's name was mentioned. From "Lin fans claiming Lin's second coming MJ" to this "Lin fans crying racism when his one bad play was criticized". BTW, that turnover you mentioned was really bad and costly, as I said many times before in game thread and many other threads. However, if you pretend you can't see those "Lin lost the series" or "I will hate him forever for losing that series" posts, I can't help you. I never try to wake up someone who pretends he's asleep.
You've asked for it: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/rGEeLtqtNvU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Again I see posters hating those 3 basketball related things he did. But not for the whole series. If you indeed saw posts like you say the it shouldn't be that difficult to point it out to us.
What would that solve? Is that gonna stop the trolls in this thread? Are people suddenly gonna say "Oh my bad, Lin did get alot of hate" ? Is that gonna stop the outrageous comments on both sides in this thread? People were trolling on Lin as far back as the original Linsanity thread in this very Dish forum before he came back to the Rockets.
Same ol' usual suspects for sure... Yao Ming Lovers Yao Ming overrated Where does this sound familiar?
Interesting perspective vlaurelio... So was CometsWin a "true rockets fan"? Yes? No? Yes? Is CometsWin just a racist then?
