No, there's no Windows 9. According to Microsoft, this OS is so epic that they're jumping straight to ten. But a theory states that it is due to coding issues. Windows '95 was coded as Windows 9. So having Windows 9 will mess with the coding. To answer your second question, it's geared towards all Windows devices with significant improvements made for desktops.
I thought windows 8 was great, so I'm all in on windows 10. People that use windows 7 are missing out on a lot, imo
the story goes that third party app devs did some lazy coding and did a version check on windows by just asking for windows 9 (95, 98) but now thats going to create huge third party software compatibility issues.
I was afraid to upgrade 7 prof to 8. I was messing with 8 on my parents computer, and it was difficult for me to just get to the desktop once windows were opened. ha ha
On your desktop, that's somewhat true. But since Win 10 will also run on your tablet, phone and XBOX, it'll be nothing like Win 8.
Yes and no. The original intention of 8 was to cross the barrier across all devices. In fact, windows RT shares a great deal with windows phone 8.1 and windows 8.1 at the code level. This has always been Microsoft's strategy, same platform, multiple devices. Its half to ease the app gap and half because no other platform has done it before.
Except Win 8 fell very short on that. For example, the Win Phone 8 store is unrelated to Win8 store. The biggest difference in Win10 will be a lot of things behind the scenes. If they are successful, the whole Win10 experience should be much more fluid and consistent. If they accomplish what they state, it'll be a massive upgrade despite that the GUI is mostly the same. But all that is vaporware, at the moment.
