It was encouraging to see him playing well. I hope this performance will help in building his confidence level for the season.
well it looks like dmo is ready to play the 5 defensively as a backup (which is huge for allowing him to be the post presence), this time last year he was playing for the opponent in preseason, he seems far more in control
If he can improve his rebounding and free throw percentage, it will be a big plus point for us. It was good to see him score efficiently.
Charlie V is no great defender, but he isn't rail thin by any means. D-Mo was able to hold his position against him without rushing things. That in itself is a plus point. I think D-Mo should be able to do a better job off the bench, this year as a low post scorer.
this ^^^ depending on whether Adrien can defend elie 4s, we may also need DMo alongside Dwight to defend twin tower combinations. I like that both starting and bench units can have a post presence and shooters around them and a dynamic playmaker in Harden and ??? We are searching for that playmaker on the bench unit. Ish and Troy for a while made good drives and then dished outside. But both starting and bench units can play with the same style, unlike last few seasons.
In the summer league, Chris Finch was saying DMo needed to slow down on offense. He was always rushing things. Tonight the game seemed to have slowed down for him. Hopefully he can build on that. We need him badly this year. On the bench unit, he can have his touches to get his rhythm. It'll be difficult to get touches alongside Harden and Howard.
Not too sure about that. Dallas has an extremely weak center rotation. I still think that Dorsey will end up being the primary backup at the 5.

I really hope DMo can defend the 5 well this season. I could see him working very well offensively as a small ball 5.
Like I always said, this idiot McHale needs to use DMo as back up 5 and give him post touches and let him go work down there. Enough of trying to use him as s tretch 4 or asking him to camp at the 3 point line. I'd rather have a rotation of TJ and DH starting at PF and C and Adrien and DMo backing them up. DMo was really impressive last night. I hope McHale saw that but I doubt it. He probably put his blinkers on and will relegate DMo to the doghouse or ask him to camp at the 3 point line. i hope I am wrong.
his post defense has always been solid for a backup, it was how he would get himself out of position and dumb foularama on help that was an issue he seems to have cut down on.
He looks NBA ready now, I am glad the Rockets did not give up on him, guys that are that tall, that quick and left handed, and really skilled do not fall off the truck very often. DMo should have a good impact and make himself a lot of money in his next contract. DD
He isn't playing crouched down like he always did. He is standing up and making firm decisions on post play.
It seems as though it doesn't even matter to him with which hand to finish, he's as ambidextrous (amphibious!) as a PF/C ever gets.
I don't really care where Motiejunas plays, but the Rockets need to find a way to get him on the floor more once the season starts and let him do his thing in the low post rather than camp out at the 3-point line. I think he may be better suited to play the 5 right now, but I'd kind of like to see Houston go with him as the starting 4 some this preseason to see how his post game would work with Dwight on the floor. Who knows. He may be a better fit than Terrence Jones.
