I used to be a tie guy, then I started getting into the whole bowtie thing.

Have about 30 ties, and 10 bowties.

1 bolo tie when i'm feeling bold.

I still have about 80 or so (just recently added a Zegna and a Boss one, among others (not from the fake market)), but still rarely ever wear one.

Swoly - just wondering - are you required to wear ties to work, or do you just like to wear them? I seem to remember that you are an IT guy - so the only explanation I can see is that you work as an IT guy for a finance company or something?

Neither required, nor finance company, it's a private university but when I started wearing ties it was for a public university. Even at the previous job, I wore them every now and then and people always thought I was going for interviews.

I like to keep a professional look and enjoy the look it gives my team, as there are also a couple more peeps who wear them here, but not often. I also have many shirts with which I can combine good colors.

I like to wear them, too, and have no problem finding out about a new knot. The one I use most often is the half-Windsor.

I think Charvet makes a great tie; its great material, durable, but kind of thick too tie. Other than that I like Hermes and Ferragamo for the prints. For just lines and stripes, I like Dolce and Prada ties. For knit, I like Ralph Lauren actually, inexpensive at $55 and the colors are bold. For wool ties, I like Alexander Olch (found at Barneys and online)
