You need to check it out in the NBA session. They are trying to compare the all time draft picks i.e. #1's vs #9's from 1985 till present. One interesting note the author says is at the bottom of the second page when comparing the 3 greatest #2 draft pics (which includes Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, and Steve Francis) vs. the 3 greatest #10 draft pics from 85 till now (Paul Pierce, Horace Grant, Caron Butler) No. 2 vs. No. 10 No. 2: Best 3 (Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, Steve Francis) Worst 3 (Danny Ferry, Stromile Swift, Shawn Bradley) No. 10: Best 3 (Paul Pierce, Horace Grant, Caron Butler) Worst 3 (Adam Keefe, Johnny Dawkins, Rumeal Robinson) The Pick: No. 2 Hard to argue with their Best 3, who will all end their careers in NBA's All-Time Top 50. Steve's gonna end his career in the All-Time Top 50 !!!
For all the DC folks, Steve is supposed to be in Forrestville area for some kind of 3 on 3 tournament this week or weekend.
Funny, I read that article a few days ago and caught that mention about those guys (including Francis) being in the NBA All Time Top 50 before it is all said and done. I really hope that is the case. If Francis can play like an All Time Top 50 player and we have Yao playing at a high level then this team has to win championships.
I hope that happens because it will mean championships for the Rockets (unless he is traded); HOWEVER, he will have to make many refinements to his game. Right now I see more style than substance. Currently, he is the "new age" type of NBA player: light on fundamentals, heavy on highlight reels. And if Francis ever makes it, the NBA should publicly apologize to Dominique Wilkins.
NO, NO.... he won't be in ALL-TIME 50 greatest players b/c the NBA would have to expand the list to 75 0r 100 greatest nba players. The reason there was a "50 Greatest NBA players" list was b/c it was the nba 50 anniversary. I doubt the original 50 GP will get knock out.
Puff, puff, give...puff, puff, give...you're f'ing up the rotation!!! Steve is a B+ player. He can be an "A" player, but he doesn't play like one.
I'm glad you pointed that out. I keep trying to explain to people that they only picked 50 because it was the 50th Anniversary, so like you said, the list will be extended. And i definitely think Steve will be in the top 25 players throughout the next 25 years (or whenever they add to the list).
Of course he'll end up in the greatest top 50, when it's all said and done. His rookie year stats were more impressive than most veteran PGs stats this season; including Bibby and Parker.
If someone who read this article can explain to me why hakeem wasn't even mentioned anywhere in the best #1 picks section of the article.
You can predict, but NO WAY francis will end up in top 50 if he continue to play this way, I'd say top 500 is also in dangeous.
top 500?? Cutino Mobley is going to be that. Are you a really one minded Francis hater. he is prob going to be top 75.
