Yes arkoe, putting more ram in might help, though I really can't be sure unless I know what kinda vid card/chipset/processor you are running on. Easiest way to find out whether it is problem with the burned cd or you comp is to test on another more "capable" system. If it is the CD, then a good idea would be to burn the cd at a slower speed.
Alrighty then, I needs some help too. Running IE6 with all the latest updates on a Win98 machine. Whenever I'm filling out a form online & hit TAB to jump down to the next line, it freezes & takes like 20 seconds before the cursor appears on the next line. Same thing if I mouse click on the next box. It's annoying as hell, any ideas how to stop this?
Defragging is a good way keep your comp runnnig fast, I usually do it about once a week. Adware type programs are useful, but it is much more efficient to do it manually (but kind of tedious). Anyway, before running defrag, it is a good idea to delete your internet temp files first. Most people think that all you have to do is go to internet option and clear the history/cookies and your done, but that only deletes a very small chunk of the junk in you comp. The other stuff that you would want to delete is located in a hidden folder inside your document. XP only, I don't really remember the other windows, though I'm sure they're pretty similar. 1) First make sure you can see hidden files (check it in folder option, tab that says view) 2) Go to C:\Documents and settings\(user name)\local settings\temporary internet files\ 3) Delete everything in that file, usually if you never deleted it before, this file can be HUGE. (especially those who "surf" the net looking for "random" sites) Hope that helps.
Thing is, tab is like the simplest command in a computer system. If that lags but the rest of your comp doesn't, something is wrong. And I'm pretty sure there is no setting to change the tab speed, but just in case, reset your web settings.
ok started Defragging last night and damn it took forever, just left it on overnight. Had a quick look and a restart this morning before i went to work seemed faster, although when i used winmediaplayer and then fired about photoshop the music started to slow and warp and the task manager memory use was close to maxing out.
Do you have any swap space? I take it you meant adobe photoshop right? I don't know what 'about photoshop' is, unless it's some sort of tutorial. anyway, make sure that you have swap space... I wouldn't trust that 512 megs is sufficient for photoshop. Good luck.
I'm sure Mrs Smeg would take that as a compliment, whereas I'm am not sure how i should take it, besides beating the crap out of you or getting you banned next time i use your PC

Spybot is free too! I've used both and I think Spybot is much more thorough than ad-aware... plus, the dang software is called Spybot - SEARCH & DESTROY ...how cool is that?
