I used my iPhone 4 without a case for 4 years no problem. Only got a few scratches that were inevitable over time. I use my current phone the same way. I don't ever toss it, keep keys in the same pocket, set it on the table face down or anything like that. I don't find it that hard to keep a phone in good condition without a case
The iPhone 4 was one of the most sturdy, well-built phones ever. IMO they should have just expanded that phone instead of doing a design overhaul.
I wrecked my 4s in the first month. Fell off my lap and cracked the back glass. I wouldn't risk it for such a pricey piece of electronics. Hell I'd keep it in a case for re-sell value alone.
Count me in the case / cover free iPhone 4 users. I use an Oakley sunglasses bag for transport and as a resting place for my iPhone to prevent surface contacts.
I agree! one of the most solid phones I've had. I ended up taking it apart last year to clean out the home button: I was amazed at how densely and snugly they packed all the components inside. Made sense why it was such a sturdy phone. A rigid metal chassis doesn't hurt of course That's too bad - if it helps, I'm also one of those peoples that has to have everything at right angles on their desk. Probably the same reason I try to keep my phone safe. Watch this post bring bad karma and a broken phone
I remember dropping the Original iphone from the 2nd story at my house, it landed on ceramic tile, bounced up about 2 feet and onto carpet. I had a moment and ran down thinking the phone was FUBAR'd. The only damage was a dent on the corner but everything else worked perfectly until my next upgrade.
I've never bought a case for my smartphone. I think they're ugly and make the phone way too bulky. Never had a problem either, but then again I've never owned an iPhone.
So what...then that means the thickness will be normal. Trying to be the thinnest is pointless when you end up compromising other aspects of the phone, like durability and battery life.
I have a case for my iPhone6 not only to protect it, but it also gives me a much better grip on the phone while only using one hand to type or scroll on it. The case I have came with the phone when I pre-ordered it. It is a polyurethane case of some sort. It doesn't slide on a desk or anything. I like it and it doesn't really add any weight or bulkiness to the phone.
My iPhone 4s had one of those battery cases. Made it bulky as hell but the battery boost was cool. But since moving to Samsung I haven't gotten one and don't really miss it. It gets a few dings here and there when I drop it but overall it's fine. Less bulky and better looking. People rave about their phone looks, metal versus plastic etc... and then just end up throwing it inside a big thick ass cover anyway.
I had a cover for 3GS and iPhone 4...then for the 5S..i decided not to buy one. Mostly because I got tired of researching the best case. Then I realized it was a waste of money to spend 30 bucks on a case, then 20 on a screen protector. So happy I didnt. I am actually able to enjoy the phone the way it was designed.
I tend to buy a cheap (10-15 bucks) but highly rated case on amazon and use it for the first 8-10 months I own my phone. Near the end of the lifecycle, I go caseless and then trade the phone in for something new. I've dropped my new-ish phones WAY too many times to go caseless.
I've had Otter cases for my last 3 iPhones. A little pricey, but they literally cover the entire phone (including the touch screen) while only adding a little bulk. When I take the phone out of the case, it is literally just like new. I can't imagine not having a case for my phone. Feels so flimsy without one.
I only have a thin snap case for my iPhone 6. In fact, it's so thin that it is practically non-existent. The only purpose for using it is to prevent scratches, but in a few weeks I plan to go case-less like I did with my iPhone 5 and others in the past.
What's the point of it being literally like new if you never get to enjoy the look and feel of that newness? Feels like those old ladies that cover their sofas and house with plastic to keep things new. The house looks like **** in the meanwhile.
you'd be surprised, I support around ~3000 Houston user's and our company phone is the Samsung S4/S5 and people b**** and complain about the size all the time. lol.
Personally, I think it makes the phone look and feel better. Just feels so tiny and flimsy to me without a case.
Why not just make the phone sturdier to begin with? This is what I don't understand when people boast about the thickness of a device, why can't a phone come out that is at the appropriate thickness and sturdiness without any case modification. Oh wait, there is. It's called a Nokia phone. I love when iPhone users boast about the design and look of a device only to hide the phone behind a cover/case (obviously, not referring to you or iPhone users in general, just a group of them).
