I wasn't spazing out, I thought you were reacting to something that wasn't there. You should take your own advise and not spaz out.

I didn't say you were spazing.

And you didn't think that I was reacting to something that wasn't there, you saw that I used a different word because I was not careful with my post.

You got that right. Maybe when I get home I'll turn off the a/c, put some Sonny and Brownie on the ole Victrola, pop a Shiner Bock (or two), and pretend I am out sweating with the masses. Those were the days.

    Happy/Glorious Juneteenth yall.

I don't think you can ever overstate the freeing of the slaves.

Thank's for telling me what I think, but I thought you were reacting to the word Glorious as opposed to Gracious, which there is a big difference. But I'm glad to see you're not only a holiday etiqutte expert but you're also a mind reader.

ya know, i was thinking that exact same thing....to someone who lived under that system as a slave, that must have been like a rebirth. frightening, to be sure...but at least hopeful.

I use to be with 'it', but then they changed what 'it' was. Now what I'm with isn't 'it', and what is 'it' seems weird and scary.

A very, very happy Juneteenth to all.

Might have to hit Frenchy's for lunch...

I don't see the difference. They are both superfluous adjectives.

And I didn't say that I was an expert. I just offered my opinion.

I just finished the smothered pork chops for lunch at the cafeteria here, and I'm jealous! Have some red beans & rice for me....they make awesome red beans & rice (and their collards are damn good as well).

At least because of the Emancipation Proclamation, you get paid to work...

Always look on the bright side of life! :D

I'm definitely going to do that, after the yardwork is done. My variation will probably be sitting outside, cranking Johnny "Guitar" Watson (his older stuff) and drinking Coors Lite!

From the mid-70s until the early 80s, I went to the Juneteenth Blues Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre every year. During that time, I saw Albert King, Lightnin' Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Arnett Cobb, & Stevie Ray Vaughan play...all for free!

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every tenement and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old spiritual, "Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."~ Dr. King

god bless us all and ya'll be safe

I've never gone there and not had red beans & rice. Gonna try the greens today, haven't had those. There's no way in hell they can be as good as the spinach with crawfish tails at West Gray Cafe though.
