If this feud reaches the point that Kobe is actively shopped then I think the Rockets have a good chance at landing him. Granted the Lakers would surely push for Franchise but they are in much the same situation we were with Pippen (ie they have to trade him and so deals are as sweet as they could be). I think that a package of Dream (who said he might go to LA anyway), Mo, and Shandon or a pick might do the trick. LA gets a great backup center and an upgrade at the four and the type of player they need at the 2 and we get Kobe. you REALLY think tha Kobe couldn´t fetch anything better for the lakers than 3 players on the last year of their contracts? With one of them being a shadow of his former self and the other two still having a LOT to prove? Oh, please. If you are going to dreamcast, at least do it in the realm of possibility. Kobe is a headache. I dont care how good he is. You and I both know that the problems he has in LA are going to follow him anywhere else there is already a dominant player, ala Francis. Add Cuttino to that mix and we have BAD chemistry. Its all posturing. No way Kobe leaves LA, the only place he's played since forcing Charlotte to trade his draft rights, and not incidentally the best place for him on a national-marketing scale. Adidas don't sell themselves! Kareem and Magic coexisted on the Lakers for years, and that team was similar to the current squad with the older center eventually giving up control to the youthful guard. Thanos/Chenzen- Cato and Walt for Pippen was not an even trade, but the Rockets obviously had to trade him and so they had to take a lesser deal than was possible, Kobe could end up in the same situation. And you can't compare Kobe to Pippen--Pippen was (and still is) on the downswing of his career with 4-5 years left on a hefty contract at the time that trade was made. Kobe's twenty-freakin-two! I honestly would hate it if Kobe came to Houston. We dont need one guy taking 30-40 shots a game and having everyone else taking less than 10 and standing around.
