Classic case of Aggie engineering. In all seriousness, it's awful that people are getting injured on the fields at Kyle and NRG. They really need to fix both fields.
That's until Kyler gets there... I've seen this kid play several times and yes he is that freaking gooood.... It's like looking at his dad play all over again with more accuracy.. I do believe with the way Hill has played allows A&M to redshirt Kyler and not rush him into the system. A&M has a great future ahead of them... T_Man
The field was completely re-sodded prior to the season. It was fine against Lamar. Tonight, however, was a different story. Brand new field + four inches of rain within 24 hours the day before the game = crappy field conditions. I expect the field to be much better for the next game October 11.
Checking in... a few observations 1. Aggie defense still sucks. When Rice outgains you in yardage, you might be in for a long SEC slate 2. Doesn't the A in A&M stand for Agricultural? Can you learn to grow grass and have a playable playing surface? 3. I didn't expect Rice to win, but if we had our top 2 defensive players and our top offensive weapon (WR Jordan Taylor), that game would have been very close... 4. A&M is massively overrated
I think Garrett is leading the nation in sacks. And he's not even out there every down. Then again, he's playing Rice/Lamar. But still... impressive for a freshman that is still noticeably raw.
I think Rice had a really good gameplan coming in (very similar to last year). Defense seemed to take a step back this week. I don't know how indicative this is. SC only averaged 3.0ypc against us, and then 4.2ypc against Georgia last week. I know the game script was a bit different in those matchups, but it is worth consideration. As Ziggy mentioned, the offense is deep. Not too worried about it, but over the past two seasons we had clear cut number one guys (Swope, Evans) who could be relied on to bail us out with the big catch when necessary. I would like to see someone step up and take over as Kenny's safety valve, and there should be ample opportunity over the next 5 weeks. My money at this point is on RSJ, but Kennedy seems to be the favorite so far. I think Speedy is a long shot to be receptions leader this season, but man he has big play potential every snap. Trey Williams is great. I want to see him get the ball more (only 2 carries against Rice). I've been a big fan since he arrived, and I expect him to be more involved once SEC play really gets going. Things are looking good. I'm worried about our brutal SEC plate this year, but you just know there are going to be some exciting games over the next few months. All in all, great start to the season. Let's get that field fixed up ASAP though.
Sumlin has refuted that report. Speedy has a knee injury, but is not related to the MCL or ACL. He is out this week, then they will evaluate him again.
FIFY Rice should have been blown right outta College Station. Winning by 4 TDs is shameful considering how bad Rice football is. The game was way too close for my liking.
Rice ran all over A&M somehow. It'll be interesting to see how they do against Arkansas in a couple of weeks. They're a pretty dominant running team and I'm interested to see how A&M's run defense does.
