Given the fact that the Rockets have no reasonable draft picks in the current year, do you guys think that JVG will work a trade or potentialy convince Les on some of the names on the free agency list? (Malone, Kidd, O'Neal, Brand, Miller, et. al)

Not only do the Rockets not have a first round draft choice, they are so overspent on the bunch of underachieving crybabies on the roster now, that we couldn't afford to do anything about a F/A if we wanted to!!!

Hopefully you don't think the answer is no, there is always a way. Rockets still have many trade options, the question is, are there any FA worth going after?

Afterall, this is an entirely different organization we are looking at after JVG took over.

You can be certain that he is looking at the market!

Of course he is looking for free agents but our options are limited by the salary cap and because our players apart from Francis and Yao have limited trading value.

That's what we're gonna be doing next weekend. Of course, market refers to the cuties at Lil' Woodrows.

Nope, Steve's new salary put the Rockets over the cap. Also, I don't think we can hit the free market atleast 2 years from now, when MoT and Cato's contracts are up for some real contenders. And by that time, Ming will be asking for the max.

We have over 30 mil tied up at the bench,

Mo Taylor - 4 more years...he better step up
Cato - 3 more years, doing ok for averaging about 6 min per game
    Rice - good trade bait
Nachbar (hopefully it will be his year this year)
    M.Norris (Mr.CBA) 4 more years...4 more years!!!
Collier - mos def not gonna resign

When time comes to resigning Posey next year, money will be tight.

Thank goodness Ming developed very early or else the Rockets would be screwed.

I think there are going to be some good role players that go for cheap this year. If JVG makes a strong enough case to Les, he can get someone.

There is also the sign and trade. We have players with value to swap. Rice is also a option, since he will clear cap space at the end of the year.

What do you think Payton will go for?
    Just curious.

Kidd is probably just covering all his bases ala CWebb a few years back. Kidd would be great, but seriously, there's no way in hell we get him, not enough money to sign him, not enough talent to swing a sign and trade. Anyone else hear that the Kings are rumored to be offering Bibby and Turkoglu in a sign and trade for Kidd?
