It must have been 80 or 81. That picture you post looks right on. I always assumed they were twin speaker amps, but you may be right about the single 15" speaker set-up. I guess it wouldn't really matter except this thread is about tone and I suspect you are on to something here. Kinda weird to use what would be considered a 15" bass speaker for lead guitar.
No responses? Maybe my sarcasm went undetected. Seriously, I'm not sure she can or ever could play guitar. It's basically just a prop. Anyway, another real contribution. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. has a beautiful over-compressed electric guitar sound. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/eSXtgqdmXMw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
While it is easy to say Clapton or Knopfler, I have always like Mike Campbell... guitarist with the Heartbreakers. Brad Paisley doesn't get enough credit for guitar. Heck... Willie Nelson plays a mean guitar (and that thing is downright nasty looking).
I thought it was hilarious but didn't want to derail. I've played with plenty of singers who insist on also playing rhythm guitar. We always just had the sound man turn it all the way down in the mains but leave it up in his/her monitor so he/she wouldn't know. Same thing for musicians who insist on singing backup vocals but can't carry a tune in a bucket.

Haha, of course! Collective Soul use PRS guitars and other guitarist that were mentioned (Santana, Eric Lifeson) as well. Ross plays the Custom 22. Love them Paul Reed Smith instruments
don't make me play Trey. While others are trying so hard to find youtubes of obscure people and finding Zappa's best song (y'all aren't Zappa fans like me...your offers suck) No one can beat Trey, today...hey that rhymes!! +1 for Trey
