OK, I've never listened to 610 before until this week. With this unbearable wait for trade news, I decided to tune it in.

Everyday this week the two 610 guys are talking about Rudy's comments about Cuttino. And now, for the second time this week Feigan from the Chronicle who first reported the Rudy quotes joins in. Not to mention all the call ins, this is a hot topic.

The concensus is that Rudy's comment "one of the best in league...it's a fact" is borderline "lie". hehe.

Wow. Let's join this hot topic. I'm not going to try to convince anyone of anything here. Just want to state my opinion and try to coax out Feigan and the 610 guys (hey, no call-ins for me; I'll remain in phone-in-caller lurker mode. cc.net at 3500 posts is enough of a habit for me...lol)

Hey John...I'm from Galesburg, Ill. Did you really go to Knox College! Shame on you; you should know more about basketball. jab! Come out of lurker mode!

So here is my true opinion of Rudy's comments.

Give us yours. Let's not battle over specific games though, since we've done that for a couple weeks. Just your opinion about skills and comparisons to the league.

If we're talking pure offensive skills, I can agree with Rudy. Cuttino's speed from a dead stop is very rare, as rare as Francis's hops. Francis's hops scare people into backing away, thus he gets open en-yo-face jumpers. His dribbling and juking get him around and through people, and again the hops let him elevate to get off a shot even when covered.

Cuttino's speed is very rare. He goes right by people, no juking necessary. This simplifies the entire play, especially the plays timing (which is important to note). I think Rudy's comments are largely about this speed, and what he knows it can do. The straight speed simplifies play calling, and allows for the team to more easily understand their role in 2 shakes or the 24 High pnr. Alright, no laughing about "yeah they just stand and watch..." Point is, what we want Francis to achieve is run more motion-oriented plays. That is harder for the team as a whole to do, and Mobley adds complementary simplicity. So does Mo' btw.

No doubt Francis is the Franchise. No doubt we want more motion. Plus, Mobley has not shown me the real desire to use his team, yet. He has to be taught that. But I completely agree that Mobley's speed is superior to everyone but a handful of guards. Who has league pass? The speed is rare!

Lance, John, Jonathan, don't you think Rudy was talking about athletic skill and shooting for guards, not the Shaq's and Webber's out there. And I believe he was only referring the offense, not defense.

bottomline: both Francis huge hops and dribbling and Cat's blow-by simplicity are two very difficult skills to defend, and I'm glad we have both on our team.

let's talk about your disgust, partial agreement, or full agreement with Rudy.

I think what Rudy meant was that Cuttino is one of the best talents in the league. IMO, Cuttino has the potential to be one of the best in the league, but still has some growing to do and I have no doubt that he will be one of the best if he sets his mind to it.
