please, so Eggie can block the odd shot, but really is it good D if all you ever do is go for the block, what about bodying up, moving your feet and stopping someone from scoring without a block and then what about when the player he is guarding doesn't have the ball Eggie has no idea how to play defense then. Eggie is a not a good defender, there is a memo out on him sent to all PFs in the league, they all know all he does is go for the block and nothing else, that is so easy to score against. Potential is nice and sure Eggie has some, but right now in any aspect of the game Jermaine is in a different league (aside from maybe flat 3ball bricks)
J oneal plays in the pathetic east. Like Griffin he cannpt play with the west's big boys day in and day out. This was evidenced by his getting schooled by the Pfs int he west. Further, he was a big part of the reason that team usa got schooled last summer. No thanks.
"For all those people who say he struggled or will struggle in the west, check this out vs the power in the west. Teams: fg% ppg rebs blks Dall 47 24.5 12.5 1.5 Sa 37 21 9.0 3.0 Phoe 64 24 7.5 2.5 Sac 63 22 9.5 2.0 Utah 48 19 8.5 3.0 La 42 25.5 15.5 2.5 Minny 44 22.0 12.5 1.5 Port 48 28 9.0 1.0 I'm not going to add those numbers up, but against the elite, it looks like he did pretty well. I would do it in a heartbeat, but I don't think Indy gives up a 24 yr old big man for a 26 yr old tweener. O'Neal is a double-double which only about 6 or 7 players in the whole league can say. He and Ming would work wonders together and they could have basically anyone run the pg spot as long as he can hit a open shot." And Eddie Griffin a better shotblocker than Jermaine O'neal??? I don't think so....Jermaine O'neal is a good shotblocker just like Griffin. And that's all Griffin can do.
This is not cool Trades that are not going to happen. Please use www.realgm.com to check if the trade is possible.
But, you could say that there are few 20/6/6 guys in the league. What , 3 last year? Only one current nba player has done it for his career.
I am saying NO to that trade. Griffen is a decent player , not as good as Joneal yet. Francis is way better than tinsley in backcourt. Just like van gundy said balanced teams have a better chance of winning rings. Yao will dominate in front soon and Francis already owns almost everyone in the backcourt. Teams like lakers, spurs and wolves dont need a pg because their big men make all the plays . Just like hakem did back in the days. Just draft a pg. bench mobley. starting 5 = yao, griffen, posey, francis and the drafted pg. bench = mobley, cato, glen, mo taylor.
i didn't feel like reading all of the posts so i'll respond with a resounding hell no i wouldn't make this trade ps. real gm isn't that great, some of the trades posted on here may work on real gm but not in reality with all due respect
verse- That was my post, not RP's. He must be stealing my posts to up his post count. Here is the list of players who averaged 20+ points and 10+ rebounds last year... Shaquille O'Neal (who didn't actually play enough games to qualify) Tim Duncan Kevin Garnett Jermaine O'Neal That's it. THAT is nice company.
Because Francis is not useless, he just needs the right coach to use him the right way. We have seen flashes of how Steve CAN take over a game, we beat many great teams this year but had loses to easy teams. Why? Because we had an inconsistant offense where most players were used wrong. Yao was taking long jumpers, Cuttino had to force his game because he wasn't in the flow of the offense and Steve had to try to take over the game when both Yao and Cuttino weren't having respectable nights. Once the 3 of these players have been strung together in an offense that is a much more consistant scoring method for them, you will see why Francis is very valuable... even in the west.
My point exactly in the debate. So i ask, is it easier and more effective to go 20,6,6 or 20 and 10? Me personally, i think that what J' Oneal is a more consistent fact to success. Many asinine posters will speak with their heart and not their mind. Take any big man besides Duncan and how many teams will trade a guard for him? The Richmond -Webber trade turned the sorry west teams Sacramento into powerhouse. As long as the court is 94 ft and the basket is 10ft high, this is a big mans game period. When was the last time a team won with a all star pg? When was the last time a team won with a all star center or pf?
fist up, everybody save their breath, cos if that trade was offered to indy, indy flat out rejects it, no amount of throw ins, draft picks is gonna make that deal work, the pacers will not trader jermaine oneal for steve francis. NO WAY. Second up, Houston would be crazy to trade steve francis anyway. Like it or not Steve Francis is seen as an undiscplined scorer who does not make his team mates better, i.e. see allen iverson but without the playoff experience. No team will give up any franchise player for Steve Francis, and once he has "matured" and is able to contribute and make his team mates better, then the rockets would be silly to trade him, so like it or not, Francis is here to stay. I mean philly was ready to deal iverson and the best offer they got was stackhouse. I doubt francis is going to fetch anything more.
This trade unquestionably would improve our team. The REAL question is, should we hold out and try to get Brand (without giving up Steve or Yao). Ming Brand Rice/Boki Posey/Piatowski Francis or Ming J O'Neal Posey/Boki Mobley Tinsley I'd go for the first.
Either way the Rockets improve. But I agree if you can get the 1st one you do it. Then you have 3 star players to compete in the west. Either way, if you have Yao/Brand or Yao/J O'Neal you will have one of, if not the BEST, PF/C tandem in the NBA. That alone will win you a TON of games!
The bored person who thought up this thread fits right in with the geniuses who came up with the get-rid-of-Pippen trade. Dumb as crap.
Roger that! I don't really want to give up Francis. If we can somehow get Elton Brand....then we will be one of the great teams in the NBA. Brand is like exactly what the Rockets need and Jeff Van Gundy would love him. So what is your proposed trade to get him??? Cuttino Mobley, Eddie Griffin, and Maurice Taylor or Kelvin Cato for Elton Brand and Eric Piatkowski?
am i mistaken or is this a r****ded move? not because jermaine o'neal isn't the goods, which i think he is, but because jermaine o'neal is an unrestricted free agent and we don't need to give up anybody for him. obviously, the salary cap would be an issue, so we'd need to dump somebody, so why not mo taylor and glen rice? trade those guys for jermaine o'neal in a sign & trade.
