Incidentally this thread reminds me of some movie I saw recently called "When the Game Stands Tall" with Jim Caveziel based on some real high school team that had a really long streak. Started blubbering like crazy at the last few scenes.

First base or the batter's box? Who needs first, second, third and home when we have the internet? Let's just swing away.

Verbal abuse in kids causes actual damages to the brain. It's effects can be more long lasting than broken bones and harder to repair. Very easy to dismiss since it's invisible to others.

Name me one instance where physical and sexual abuse does not come with mental damage?

Any abuses can cause mental issues. I was talking about verbal, which often is dismissed. There is rarely a need to talk about physical or sexual abuse of kids, as those are generally viewed as causes of mental issues.

Yall think Kevin Durant became MVP by playing in those "everyone wins" leagues!? Nope, dude was pushed hard by his mom (the real MVP). Thanks mom!

Not all kids are cut out for competitive sports. As shown by all the quitters here who had a mean coach and obviously are sitting here, typing and not being the MVP in their sports. Hah, chumps.

Are you saying his mom verbally abuses him early on and often?

Kids need more discipline these days. This can be achieved through high level athletics. Sometimes yelling might be part of the process. You know what all the mass murderers and school shooters have in common? None of them were competitive athletes. These people began playing violent video games like GTA and Halo at an early age and soon this led them to these murderous acts which have plagued this country for the last 15 years.

You don't own a dog, do you? Or better yet, a cat.

Do you think yelling at a dog works? I guess you do.

So, let's treat our kids like dogs? Is that your point?

btw: when I play GTA, I don't even try to win, because I'm not as good as my friend....I like to watch, but he makes me sit down at his awesome, full GTA accessorized chair setup while he goes to poor us more drinks. I just try to explode as many things as possible to draw out the cops and the helicopters and see if I can escape.

I never win. I need more GTA discipline to win. My buddy does yell at me sometimes to go another way.

btw: and this is true. I hire Software Developer kids who can show me their gaming skills. Of course, I mean code. But I know they learned that first from their thrill to play.

I find myself in complete agreement with this. In addition, rap music also causes violent behavior and sexual acts and kids wanting to get rich. The moral value of this country has been corrupted by rappers.

I often wonder how parents would react if their English teachers got in their kids faces like this. Or Math.
