The only reason I am posting this is because I am unaware of the process of obtaining talent overseas. All of the players coming out of Europe have excellent fundamentals, and have a solid team oriented approach to basketball in general. That sounds like something that many would take as a breath of fresh air in our back court. I hope this is the reason that Rudy is scouting talent in Europe, because maybe we could get one of these guys and sign him to a respectable deal that would not kill us financially.
well i heard we're drafting some euro dude this year. he's slovenian i think. boston nakbar, bostan snackbar, something like that. anyway, he's supposed to be one of the most nba ready players in the draft. i heard he has a great outside shot, and loves to go to the rim and dunk it! dude might be the next peja. i hope we do draft him!!
That right, I hope we can FINALLY see Nachbar play for an extended period of time soon. I have a feeling that he is a tremendous talent and we should expect good things from him. However, I think that our backcourt needs a distributor that knows what team basketball means. Too bad Nachbar plays the 3.
Jose manuel Calderón. He is a guard near at Kidd. AN incredible physical specimen. HE can dunk with his size, is speedy and maybe you can see him on the next years on NBA. PAst year and this, some teams have been here in Spain to see haw he plays.
Is Calderon making himself eligible this draft? Find a way to get Boris Diaw. An athletic 6'8 guy who can play 3 positions and LOVES to pass would be the perfect complement to Francis. He's Lamar Odom, with a better shot. Plus Diaw is all out hustle on D.
i heard the same about some other euro dude, mirsad turdshawn, or something like that. supposedly wowing the gms in workouts with like 22 of 25 3-point shooting exhibitions.
I thought this would be a good topic of discussion because I feel that the European talent is out there, it just needs to be properly scouted. All year we hear about all the guys in the college ranks that are available, but outside of a few international players we don't hear much about the rest of the talent base. I can only speak for myself, because I had never heard of Tony Parker until he started playing with the Spurs his rookie year. This guy has great fundamentals, plays with team oriented concept and is making a huge impact in only his second year. Maybe there is someone in Europe that can be our pass first shoot second kind of PG. Then Francis can be moved to the two, and maybe we won't have to see our backcourt attempt to go 1 on 4 next year.
From H-Town: We don't hear much about foreign players because our national media isn't familiar with them, not because NBA scouts aren't. The European leagues are completely scouted now, and I'll bet there are no secrets out there.
its rumored ny/hou trades. if we are really into looking for a euro point, and gundy really wants to work a trade with the knicks perhaps they can throw in the rights to milos vujanic.
I think we're WAY overhyping these guys. If he was Jerry West he would've been picked higher than 36...if Boris Diaw was a better shooting, better defending version of Lamar Odom he'd be a top 3 pick. Odom could be an all star if he had the work ethic.
