Let Parsons have anything he wants the first 3-5 minutes which will make him believe he is unstoppable and a star player then suffocate him. Nothing worst than building someone up just to tear them down
Let's not act like we wouldn't rather have Parsons than Bev. I love Bev's attitude though. And it's true Parsons has become quite the diva
Every player has a price. Parsons at his current price is clearly much worse than Beverley. We just used that money to sign Papanikolaou and Ariza and still have money left over. Beverley's price next year, though, is another story. My guess is that Canaan and Johnson's development will greatly affect whether Beverley leaves or stays next year. What Morey said about "finding the next Parsons" also applies to Bev.
Gotta love Bev's competitive nature. Sometimes it gets him in trouble in games but you can't hate on a guy who gives 100% every time
I think it will be harder to let go of Beverley. The thing about Parsons was that he was more or less good at everything, but not elite at anything. Beverley is elite at defense. Stastically, he was arguably the best defender in his position before he got hurt and was 2nd Team All Defense (would have made 1st Team Defense if Iggy wasn't a guard/forward). Of course if someone throws a Parsons-esque deal at Beverley, then Morey would never match. But, if Morey values Patrick at 5 million/year and someone offers him 6 or 7, I think Morey would match. Depending on what the market for an upgrade for point guard looks like and how it will affect our flexibility.
My only concern about Beverly is his style of play which is reckless abandon. This makes him injury prone and lowers his value
His style is the only reason he has value. If he decided to "Take plays off" on defense, or not give 110 percent each game, he'd be out of the NBA. It's his reckless abandon that leads a team by example. Hopefully the rest will follow.
thats why beverly is at his best off the bench imo, on a championship team of course. his style of play is perfect for that role. of course it remains to be seen how he has adjusted to being a starter from last year and if he has improved. i guess well see.
IF he takes a step forward offensively and maintains his defensive intensity, why not ? Bradley signed a 32m$/4year contract.
