Not surprising. Case had every chance to beat out Fitzpatrick, didn't perform, no excuses. I think OB has wanted Mallet all along. I also think that he expected that Fitz would be holding the clip board by the end of the preseason or at least after the first few games. OB is thinking that he can "fix" Mallet and make him into a starter. We are about to find out if he is right.
Good luck to Case.... he got more than a fare shot here. When he first came in for Schaub last season and was flipping up some nice throws, I thought he might be the answer. Things just kinda fell apart for him from there. I'd be very surprised to see him in the NFL from here on unless it's with a clip-board in his hands.
No, I'm almost positive they looked at Fitz as the starter from the day they signed him. Any QB we got whether through draft or trade, were not going to be thrown to the fire right away. He was already named starter before camp. Its his job to lose.
Happy and appreciative the Texans gave him a shot when no one else would. Now I can get a battle red Keenum jersey for 75% off!
Good luck Case, I promise to keep you as my 3rd stringer in my Madden franchise...you'll always have a place in the NFL in my video game world.
Not that Mallett is going to be a world beater but why does he need to be "fixed?" He was never going to do anything sitting behind Brady.
"Fixed" now by OBrien. He wasn't even productive in preseason in New England. Most are not high on him (check the other posts). OBrien is, so he must think that he can "fix" or improve his game.
Better luck in Baltimore?! Back with Kubiak?! That's the guy that ruined him, didn't help him, put him in poor situations, changed the playbook, etc.! Or so some said. : )
