That the trade is only agreed in principle and won't become official is clear sign that it will become part of a bigger deal, likely with Terry going somewhere to match salaries. People need to stop with the panicking. It's unlikely Terry will ever don a Rockets uniform.
No. The reason the trade won't become official is that the Rockets cannot package their new non-guaranteeds (Gee, Hopson) until they are on the HOU payroll for at least 60 days, and that clock doesn't expire until around Sept. 15. That is the holdup.
Are you that obtuse or just want to be right so badly (or me be wrong), that you've missed ALL the markers of the bigger move? For Daryl to maneuver from Kyle, to waiting out the big fish, to the perfect positioning it took to be ready for Bosh to where we're headed doesn't happen overnight. Running through multiple scenarios/contingencies...having the ability and direction to cut on a dime. I mean, seriously, we're watching true genius at work. At the end of the day, we're all Rockets fans, enjoy the ride... I think you've lost perspective. I'm not even going to say anything else, besides......watch.
For one, I have said I like the trade. Therefore, I have no idea what your panties are in a bunch about. So please explain that.
Remember that a pick similar to the Kings 2015 2nd rounder was part of the Harden trade. At the time Harden and a bunch of unwanted expirings (Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook & Lazar Hayward) = Raptors 1st --> Pelicans 1st Jeremy Lamb --> Terrence Jones Bobcats 2nd --> Kings 2nd Mavs 1st --> ? Kevin Martin --> ? While the circumstances obviously have to be right, it doesn't seem like the Rockets are too far off. Probably could flip D-Mo for a low future 1st similar to the Mavs' one. Not sure a vet (on an expiring deal) like Martin will be needed, though the Rockets will likely have to add some additional value with some combo of Capela, Canaan, another pick, the rights to some Euro-stash or perhaps even Beverley.
I thought that had already expired. Well, it still doesn't change anything. By making this trade, Morey basically change the assets he has on hand for any negotiations with other teams. At this point, I'm thinking it has to be Rondo. Phoenix's quagmire with Bledsoe is drawing things out way too long.
It depends on the team's needs. For teams looking to a salary dump, this isn't so good. On the otherhand, the Rockets gained a couple of trade assets in picks. Keep in mind the 20 player roster limit is in effect so consolidating a few contracts into 1 is be helpful too.
Danny Ainge: "Hey guys I just traded Rondo for X and 2 or 3 contracts I can renounce..." or "Hey guys, I just traded Rondo for X, a couple second rd picks and Jason terry to help mentor Smart... and Terry is a 5-6M expiring contract I can trade at the deadline..." If yer Danny, which would you rather announce?
One good thing about this Terry deal is that the Jet can knock down all the clutch wide open three pointers everyone else in the play-offs seems to miss the past two post seasons.
