I apologize in advance if some readers don't like rant threads: I'm a diehard Astros fan like everyone else around here. I've supported Luhnow and his rebuilding vision vehemently, probably to the detriment of my blood pressure. But having Marc Krauss on an MLB roster is inexcusable at this point. It's nothing short of a mockery. I'm furious that we're still forced to watch him suit up, much less actually get playing time. If this were 2 years ago, fine. Suit his *** up. But its now 2014, and his ceiling isn't even a fringe MLB player. Krauss is garbage. He could be the worst Astro in recent memory in comparison to the amount of playing time he's received. His career numbers are embarrassing. He's hit .200, has a .276 OBP, and has struck out in 1/3rd of his at bats. Some may allude to Carter's resurgence, but atleast Carter flashed big power potential. Krauss' failure to utilize his 250 lb mammonth frame is permanent and inexcusable. He outweighs Chris Davis and David Ortiz by 20 pounds each. Yet he grounds out to the pitcher, or second base, nearly every at bat in which he doesn't strike out.
As someone that openly hated Grossman and called for his head and gladly ate crow, that's different. Grossman had tools that you could see shine from time to time (his good eye at the plate, hustle in the outfield, some speed, driving up pitch counts). Krauss... I just can't find a way to pull for the guy if I wanted to.
