    Brooks can shoot. Sessions can't.

I agree with others that this sounds like leverage.

I'm remembering that summer in which we drafted Brooks, had already Rafer, then Morey signed Mike James, then Steve Francis.

We could list numerous examples of Morey loading a position trying to increase roster competitiveness.

Ish is easy to sign at anytime cause he is signed for the min. However Sessions is not a vet min player, he's coming from a $10 million contract and all advanced stats tell you he helps to win. Rockets at that moment wanted to keep other biannual options open, let's say Ray Allen.

Rockets look for proven players, specially after Lin and Asik marches. Sessions is a proven NBA backup who could fit well in Houston. Canaan is far from being a proven player.

And sorry, but Canaan is not a better player than Sessions at this point. He's just the better shooter. But: he's probably a worst defender, a worst passer, a worst playmaker, a worst team director, a worst p&r player, a worst ballhandler, a worst finisher... He is just worst than Sessions, plain and simple.

Sessions is a worse shooter than Lin and doesn't possess that superquick first step, but he's probably the most dependable PG: better basket IQ, better handlings, passing, decision making, while capable of scoring in a different manner at the same time. With the Rockets in need of proven offensive punch of the bench, I think he would be a good addition for the Rockets. And regarding team shooting needs, as "the Cat" said, we're losing Lin and Parsons but we're also adding in Trevor and Daniels 2 very good shooters. Moreover, a slight improvement from Beverley/Harden/Jones/Motiejunas at 3 pt shooting should be expected.

If the Rockets were using Sessions for leverage, they certainly wouldn't go through Kennedy.

Morey's ability to bunch volume and get something back is maybe clouding the way people think.

If Bledsoe stays reasonably healthy next year he looks extremely desirable in trades - best outcome he is much more desirable than the Pelicans pick. Also, keep in mind if the Pelicans start doing well out of the gate it's going to shave the upside off that pick pretty quickly. Remember how quickly the value of the Knicks pick went in the toilet a couple of years ago?

There is no circumstance where Sessions is more than filler.

At least 29 other NBA GMs in the last 2 months obviously had a different view than you.

They did the same thing with Reggie Williams a year ago.

Unless you're Les Alexander's accountant, stop worrying. He can eat a couple of minimum deals. Most teams do. Ish Smith was/is an insurance policy in case they can't find someone better later on.

The point is that the future is a spectrum of possibilities that has not yet collapsed into the ultimate resolution.

so yes, one way or another he looks very different to GM's now than he will in 12 months, for better or worse depending how events play out. That should be so obvious that it goes without saying.

    exactly.

and sometime if you want to get a quality roaster for your training camp, you have to eat couple minimum deals, otherwise you will end up with those 2-3 spots with summer league guys - whom will come and only play for just a diet coke and a big Mac.

Ish is ishurance. If the Rockets end up short a point guard, they can keep him. If not, they cut him. His guarantee is irrelevant.

I don't see why people wouldn't welcome Ramon to this team? If the money is right and we don't have to give up anything much in a sign and trade, then Sessions would be a great welcome to this team.

He isn't a good outside shooter, fact. Yet, he boast a 12 ppg/5 ast average over his career, most of it coming off the bench. He is a spark plug. He'll get you his averages every game but every so often he will explode for 20 and add 8 assist too. He is what we wanted Lin to be this year but more consistent and a proven bench guy.

The team, specifically the bench, lacks that type of player. Our bench has no proven contributor. As high as I am in Daniels, Johnson, Canaan, even Covington none of them has the record that Sessions has over his career.

Bev / Sessions / Canaan or Smith
    Harden / Daniels / Johnson
    Ariza / Papa / Covington
    Jones / Dmo / Adrien
    Howard / Dorsey

If we can find a legit big man off the becnh or if Dmo/Dorsey come to play, that bench looks pretty good. And we still have the pieces to make more moves. It's a win situation.

Sessions doesn't make sense because he's not automatically much better than any option we have. I mean, ish isn't great but he can run a few minutes there if he's really needed. I don't believe this is happening. If we add another pg I expect them to be better than Bev. We are good at back up pg between all the guys we have.

Session will be hugh during absent of Harden, and leading the bench.

But the picture of him playing along side Harden is not pretty, he has a poor jump and bad 3pt.
