Nice win but I wonder if all the parkerholics say about his lack of productivity from the TRUE POINT GUARD? Hell Manu did not do alot Rocket River 1. He was exposed 2. He just had a bad series 3. He was overrated to begin with 4. he young
I don't think TP was exposed, but K-Mart won the John Starks award, which was appropriately enough -- wrapped in the TP necessary to clean up after that 'performance'!
Whether you like it or not, Parker is a stud. He's 21 years old and arguably one of the best pg's in the game and he especially compliments his teammates very well. He's only in his second year on a veteran team and he didn't have a great series but I expect great things from him. He's the next Steve Nash (I never thought I'd say that) and he's definitely a future all-star.
He is a 7 year pro started when he was 15 .. without the distractions of school and the other rigamarole other americans players deal with However. . . I think he is good. . . but I just wanted to see the justification for his weak series was going to be If Steve had stunl like this. . .folx would be calling him a bust . .. and a choker. Rocket River just exposing some double standards
Exposed? Parker had 3 good games, 1 avg game and 2 poor games. He's 21 yrs old on a team that just won the ring. If thats exposed, then I don't know what to say.
I felt sorry for him during the interview when asked if Jason Kidd would still take his job after this and his only response was that the Spurs got a ring and that hopefully they'll keep him. I mean the guy just helped get the team a title, and he still sounds insecure about whether that's his position or not. I hope he stays because he deserves it. I'm not even a Spurs fan, but as a Texas fan I was glad to see the Spurs win it, because atleast a Texas team won something.
I dont think he is "exposed". He did not have a great series, but he had a good series. Besides, the Spurs don't even get there without TP. I would love to have him.
Point guard is BY FAR the toughest NBA position to learn. With the exception of Magic Johnson, virtually every point guard initially struggled to find their place in the NBA. Tony Parker will be a fine point guard, but he's only 21. He has talent and skills to be very good, but it's going to be a few years before he possesses the experience, maturity and confidence to be an All-Star. Let's not be too harsh, either. In only his second season, he was the starting point guard on an NBA championship team. No, he's not Jason Kidd, but remember: it took Jason Kidd nine years to be this good.
I don't know about Tony Parker, but a lot of people want Steve to become a Jason Kidd like player. Well it looks like Jason Kidd is becoming more of a Steve Francis type player. His playoff stats: 20.1ppg on 40% shooting, 33% on 3s 7.7 rebounds 8.2 assists 4 turnovers 1.8 steals His scoring and rebounding are up but his assists are down. Obviously he is still dishing more assists than Francis but Francis can score more and at a better % than that. IMHO Francis is very capable of matching those numbers(except the rebounding, if Francis still has to average 6+ boards a game something is seriously wrong). But I digress, I guess my point is that if the premier "pass first" PG in the NBA has to concentrate more on scoring at the expense of assists, does that mean we should still be looking for the coveted "pass first" PG or persevere with Francis? Or is it simply a coincidence that Kidd has taken his teams the furthest when he has looked to be more of a scoring threat? Thoughts? (I know it's not excatly on topic)
I don't think anyone was trying to compare Parker to Francis. Parker is good but he's not that good. He's a good starter that should have a very successful career, even though he probably won't be taking Francis' All-Star spots.
