Met with an ad agency there, near Pearl Brewery, the area seemed interesting.

I just went there this weekend. The Riverwalk is cool if you don't know it. They have a a bunch of restaurants and bars. It will be crowded and hot so dress for the heat and plan around it if you want. We stayed at the Omni on the Riverwalk and got a great rate for a Saturday. Our concierge recommended against going to the Chart House restaurant at the top of the Tower of the Americas. I would check reviews before you eat anywhere, the service and food is pretty horrendous at some of the places. Check out Dick's Last Resort if you can.

I haven't checked out many other areas though, my experiences there are pretty much only with Fiesta Texas, Riverwalk, and Sea World.

    Alamo café on 281

Go to the riverwalk for bars as it is where all the tourist girls are. There aren't that many attractive women in SA.

Ive been to the River Walk but trying to stay away from the super-touristy. I dont even know if San Antonio and "super-touristy" belong in the same sentence but I digress.

I just want something of a local feel that is up and coming with good vibe bars.

I really think that Pearl Brewery area might be it. That's where I would go. Not sure how big of an area it is. But it has more of an Austin feel to it.

Take a drive through Alamo Heights. It's really the nicest part of an otherwise ugly city.

Whatever you do, please do not visit Mi Tierra, that food was a joke. I could of went to the local Taqueria and it would of been 10x better. Atmosphere wise it was pretty cool but to wait that long for that food was pathetic.

Thats why I was wondering about S Alamao St. I did a street view on Google and it looks like there are other restaurants/bars there.
