Dont remember where I picked it up, or if its been already posted, but here it is: INDIANA: Ron Mercer (to cleveland) Al Harrington (to minnesota) Austin Croshere (to minnesota) CLEVELAND: Ricky Davis (to indiana) MINNESOTA: Wally Sczcerbiak (to indiana) Terrel Brandon (to cleveland) Draft Pick #26 (to cleveland)
Why in the world would Cleveland do that? Do they have a chance to be under the cap after next season?
This trade doesn't make sense. You must have picked up this rumor from Indiana, because they basically gives away 3 scrubs for Davis and Sczerbiak, whereas Minnesota trades probably their second best player (though underpeformed during the finals), Brandon (who's contract expires soon, so its kind of attractive), and their first pick for 2 scrubs from Indiana... The only reason Minnesota might do this is because they are freeing themselves to sign a big free agent/ or a couple vauable free agents this summer. -G'day-
Cleveland need to throw about 10 million more of salary to make this trade work and they would do this because a) they can get away with some 10m bad contracts, b) Brandon's contract is expiring so it can free up cap space for them in order to pick up a good FA next summer, c) no way you want to let LeBron James get near Ricky Davis. So it's actually a superb idea from Cleveland's prespective. Actually the one who doesn't look good is for Minny, from both a talent and contract standpoint. They can get way more than Harrington and Croshere (and his bad bad contract) from Wally and Brandon's big expiring contract IMO.
