deal goes like this (from the newspaper in Denver)

Jay Will and #7 (Pietrus) for #3 (Melo)

    Denver
    Williams
    Pietrus
    Skita
    Hilario
    Kandi (fa)

    Chi-town
    Crawford
    Rose
    Melo
    Chandler
    Curry

Both teams would look about as young and promising as us.

That would be r****ded from Denver's POV, if you ask me. ESPN seems to think that drafting Anthony will make them more attractive to Arenas.

i dont know. i could see how denver might be interested in filling 2 position needs with one pick (pg and sg) and still have the money to sign a prime fa like o'neill or kandi.

ESPN magazine floated a variation of the trade quoted above from the Denver paper in this weeks issue as well.

That is not a bad trade for Denver, supposedly they LOVE Pietrus and like, but don't need Anthony.

That deal only works if Arenas does not agree to sign with Denver.

If he does sign, Denver has two 3s developing and a need for BIG.

Let's give them EG for the #3 pick. What do you say, Kiki? Say 'yes'.

Jay Williams was the number two pick last year. He struggled, but he's still a great talent. Denver has several SF's already. This is something they should consider if it's out there. I know they've got cap room, but that doesn't guarantee they'll be able to get someone good.

Hilario is a power forward, and a far better one than Griffin ever will be.

I still believe that Jay Williams is going to come around. And it will probably be next year. He's a steal if you ask me.

But he will never be the superstar Melo will be.. I would trade 2 good to great players for a superstar anyday. Mark my word. Melo will be a borderline top 5 player within five years in the league when he turns 24.

Anthony will have a hard time getting his shot off in the NBA.

I honestly don't see more than 15-20 ppg from him.

Don't let what he did in college fool you. I also don't know if he really makes the players around him that much better.

f i'm denver i do this deal too. they get a pg that has talent but was in a bad situation and another lottery pick. at that point they still have a shot at pietrus or Kaman or whoever and they still have cap room. basically they have to determine whether or not williams+#7+max contract>#3 and arenas

Jay and #7 is a great trade ...... if, Kiki like Pietrus a lot...ala Ford at ESPN Insider..... saves all their FA money......does anyone really think Arenas is worth 7.5M++++?.....I sure don't.......It is quite reasonable that Jay turns out better than Arenas and that Pietrus turns out better than Melo...but if either guard hits and the other is at NBA starter level then DEN is set......sign Kandi, re-sign Howard..
