I think Mr tinman you are referring to my post. No doubt Hakeem is better than Rodman. But I was purely referring to jump-land-jump quickness. It may be just observational but I still think Rodman is one heck of a rebounder for his size and his quickness to jump-land-jump is, I believe, better than Hakeem

not only that, but rodman had 2 more reb in 8 less mins as well. If he played another 8 mins, he would get at least 4-5 more boards as well. I agree with you though Rodman had one of the quickest second jumps I've ever seen out of a forward.

Rodman only concentrated his game on defense and rebounding.

Hakeem didn't only concentrate on one aspect of the game.

Go back and watch Rockets vs Spurs 95, the Spurs have Rodman and David Robinson in the post. That's alot of rebounding.

    vs Hakeem and Robert Horry

Glad u have confidence in ur self but thread is silly, instead of Dwight vs. Dream it should be Dwight vs. any and all current centers in NBA. It's not even close, it's Dwight hands down.

What's up with Rodman leading 18-6 in the win column? That's 75%.

This is the ground that Dwight is treading. Who else can we compare him to? Someone from the Hornets?

Dwight is on a career trajectory of peaking right now, and hopefully his next five years are his very best as a leader, 1st or 2nd option, and team player. This is Rocketsland, after all. There's nothing to protect Dwight from in this regard; it's him vs. his own expectations of the kind of player he wants to be.

But if we want Dwight to be the very best at his very best, it doesn't hurt to compare him to the very best. Hey, if he wins two or more titles in a row here at some point (even one), maybe the future debate will be different.

This is an unfair comparison, like a Jordan vs Wade type.

I would say Howard is the better peak/prime rebounder and Olajuwon is better at everything else. This is no knock against Howard, who may end up one of the top 25 players of all time or better if he can maintain his effectiveness. All he needs is more longevity and he may already be in the mix imo.

Look at the fantastic improvement he made in the playoffs:

the only thing dwight might be better at than dream was is rebounding. and even that is debatable because dwight's numbers might be inflated by the fact that he played with poor rebounders like rashard lewis and ryan anderson next to him while dream played with strong rebounders like ralph sampson, otis thorpe or charles barkley.

You are exactly correct. However I was purely referring to Rodman's jump-land-jump aspect, as chenjy stated that no one better than Hakeem in that aspect.

Both Dwight and Akeem took their respective teams to the NBA Finals exactly once and lost.

Hakeem had problems at times when he played Mark Eaton if I remember correctly. Although, I'm sure Hakeem still was dominant. It's really hard for a 6' 10" guy to go against someone 6 inches taller. But I agree that Hakeem would school Dwight all day.

Sampson was the best player on that team at the time.
