I don't think Case is an O'brien type QB so won't really get a shot. Regardless, I don't think we have even an average starting QB on this roster. They are all bad.
Ugh, so annoying. Eventually I hope Arian realizes that no one is going to care about him outside of the "little athlete box". If you don't like doing the song and dance, stay off the stage.
Hmm, Which flavor of BS would this be? Battle Red, Battle Fighting or Bulls on Parade BS? I get a real hoot out of BoB's channeling of Chief Inspector Dreyfus from the Pink Panther movies: "Every day, in every way, we are getting better and better!" (twitch, twitch, twitch).
Perhaps not, but if we go with an inferior QB because he's "an O'Brien type" then it'll be really disappointing. I hope we're just giving the long time vet one more shot and we aren't trying to ratchet up the pressure to give him a fair shot. Anything else is disappointing. As to having an "average starting QB", I don't know, but I don't think it really matters. I just want a game manager who will protect the ball. I don't think Fitz can do that, but there is reason to think Keenum can. If we can protect the ball, I think it gives us a chance to win some games, if we win some games then people will overrate the QB who happens to be the starter just like always.
Yeah, kind of like a lot of us were pissed when we didn't trade up for one of the 2 qb's available in the 2nd half of the first b/c they were not "an O'Brien type" qb.
In that case, it was just a polite way of saying "because they suck at playing the QB position and aren't worth wasting picks on". I assume you are talking about Bridgewater and Manziel, neither QB was worth the first overall pick nor were they worth giving up multiple picks to trade up for. Honestly, I don't think either would have been worth it at 33.
I also think we are pretty far from being able to get by with just a game manager at QB. I think the run game will be slightly above average, if Foster stays healthy, and too many holes on D, especially in the secondary to be anywhere close to being a dominant D.
It's sounds like Keenum is your choice and I hate to break it to you, but he pretty much sucks too. I'd like to see him do good, but I doubt it will happen.
Well our starting O line is better than it has been in years, our receiving corps is better than it has been in years, our front 7 on defense is a monster....really they aren't as far away as some think. The secondary certainly needs work, but if JJo comes back 100% that'll go a long way towards fixing that. Of course, I don't know if Romeo's style will work with the guys we have. Either way, a game manager QB is infinitely better than a terrible gun slinger style QB throwing picks right and left. Also, it's not like anyone expects the Texans to win a SB this year.
And he was undrafted.....I wouldn't have suggested trading into the first round to pick him either. Keenum is my choice for this team given the options, but he's not a long term solution.
I actually think the D-Line will be stellar. Not as confident about the LB's. I think we have two very good to great players in Cushing (assuming he comes back at full speed) and Clowney. Outside of that not much. Reed and Mercilus don't seem to be up to par and we have fillers in the middle.
Well I obviously would have taken Manziel and even Bridgewater over anything on this roster. I don't think it matters which one of these guys plays. We are in a rebuilding year and none are longterm solutions.
if fritz has to play 2 quarters in the dreaded game 4 of the preseason, then we're in a lot of trouble.
I like our depth at ILB, Cush is Cush and I like Tarpinian and Bullough. As to OLB....well we have Clowney. That said, how awesome it is that Merc/Reed would be the weakest link in our front 7? Less likely Merc than Reed though, if we had better depth, Merc might be in danger of getting cut. At least Reed is solid at setting the edge against the run. NT seems to finally be under control with Powe and Nix...either of which being the best NT the Texans have had since Capers. DE is actually pretty amazing with Watt, the best defensive player in the league, and Crick who is finally getting to play the 2 gap that he thrives in. I'm hoping to see improvement as the games go on, but it wouldn't shock me to see the Texans D end up being one of the best in the league.
lol Arian after practice. I think that's Tania Ganguli that kept asking him the same question three times. https://soundcloud.com/espn975/arian-foster-media-session

Which means there was never really any QB competition. . . . it was just a bunch of coachspeak and PR stuff He got HIS GUY and he will ride or die with him Fitz is his Schaub Rocket River
I wouldn't put any money on that. Uncle Bob is knocking on "the door", and I seriously doubt he's going to patiently watch the Texans blow another season with a lame duck QB.
