The Clippers take an 18-12 lead in the first quarter of a game and Walton says " The rout is on." A game with the Clippers and Rockets, Walt Williams comes into the game, "The great Walt Williams..."
You missed one word that makes it even funnier. It was: "That was arguably the worst inbounds past in Los Angeles Clippers franchise history." I also like these: "Kevin Willis. Plagued with short arms throughout his entire career." "Shades of Hakeem Olajuwon. What an outlet pass by Kelvin Cato!"
I just like how he makes fun of Tom Tolbert's giant ears. I don't think he ever did it in a game but he does it a lot when they're both on sportscenter. "What will they do when they look through tom tolbert's ears and find only light?"
"Lindsay Hunter is making Devean George look like John Stockton" it doesn't look that funny in print but you had to be there. devean george had just bricked a ton of shots and then hunter comes along and proceeds to shoot more shots, quicker, and brick them even worse, and the best part was how quick walton threw it out there. i don't like things that praise stockton but it was such a good slam i was rolling. "watch your face" on any horrible brick is great "throw it DOWN, big man. throw it DOWN" is awesome. when i first heard it, it seemed corny, then it just started becoming accepted and expected. whoever he's doing a game with will almost say it before him now and you'll even see other broadcasters throw it out there in random games. it's just the line you say after someone dunks now. all the others mentioned in this thread are great. walton is classic.
"Robert Horry is the greatest post-feeder in the history of organized basketball." Oh, and my personal favorite, from last month's series between the Lakers and Spurs, when the game was on the line and Jannero Pargo took a 3-pointer--which he totally airballed: "Jannero Pargo...terrrrrrrrrrible. This is a team with Kobe Bryant, and Shaquille O'Neal--and you have JANNERO PARGO taking that shot? Horrrrrrrrrrrrible!" CLASSIC.
Did you guys catch Brad Nessler and Tom Tolbert bashing Walton during the Game 5? Freakin' hilarious. It was after Richard Jefferson ran into Bowen's elbow while Bowen was shooting. Bill: "Well, I've learned over the years that you shouldn't play defense with your face." Brad: "And you're living proof of that, Bill." Tom: "Hey Bill, if you ever wanna have that old feeling again, I'm here for you."
Another one from game 5. I can't remember exactly how it went. Tolbert: Ginobili has a really unorthodox style. Walton: I couldn't disagree with you more. Nessler: Well, you disagree with the both of us then. Tolbert: I was just quoting his coach. ---- Crap, it was something like that. I'm not sure. Funny though.
"Yao is going to change the way the NBA is played!" Then a few minutes later. "Throw it down Yao, you have to throw it down!'
"Throw it down" is classic. But my favorite Walton quote was: "Robert Horry throws the best entry pass in the history of the game."
Walton: "Yao Ming can teach us all so much....Not only about basketball, but about LIFE! We have so much to learn from him."
something that cracked me up for days from the clipper broadcasting days was the last game that they were broadcasting locally in la. Bill: i cant tell you what an extreme pleasure it was for me to work alongside you Ralph for all these great games of basketball Ralph: Too bad I cant say the same LMAO
