We essentially passed up on an nba bench warmer for another euro bench warmer.

As much as I am biased against Euroleague players... I would rather have this Niko Nikos guy than Charlie V. Charlie V SUCKS.

I can't imagine the Rockets actually offered part of their MLE for Villanueva. I personally feel even a BAE at 2yr/$4mil would be overpay. But I can at least accept it if the Rockets like him that much. But no way were we giving him $4mil/yr.

He had like two good seasons on the Raptors and Bucks.

Why do the Mavs keep taking Morey's rejects?

New Dallas recruiting strategy: if it is almost good enough for Morey, then it's good enough for Dallas!

I feel like at some point in his career CV needs to play with Anthony Davis.

At this point, showcasing euro talent will only lead us to more 1st round exits, and more excuses from you guys on why Morey's not done yet. I wonder how many players San Antonio, OKC & the LAC's are "showcasing" just to do it

Maybe Davis can loan him some of his eyebrow hair. He is a Dallas Maverick now so I don't feel bad making fun of his medical conditions.

There's two ways to look at this:

First: Let's assume that Morey is correct in his theory that you need a core of three all-star level players to be able to compete for a championship.

I'm personally unsure if his theory is correct or not, but if you look at last years playoffs, I'm inclined to think maybe so. Spurs don't have to showcase anything because they have exactly what we're seeking - a core of 3 championship contending stars. OKC and LAC rolling with their 2 stars + solid complements but there's reason to believe that approach hasn't quite gotten them over the hump.

Second: At a fundamental level, DM looks at each decision and their alternatives in terms of whether or not the move brings them closer to being a championship contender.

In this situation, he's weighing what CV would bring to the Rockets versus Kostas' potential (or potential to be attractive in a larger deal). I think CV's non-guaranteed offer from Dallas will tell you something about that.

Channel your Rafer Alston/Mike James scenario. That's all I've got. :)

And, I'm glad we allegedly passed on Charlie V. Ever since Toronto, he lost his drive. That contract was a killer. Same one that plagued Ben Gordon.

Forecasting the past to the future....I dunno about you, but I miss Walt Williams. If he were in this current generation, he'd be great on this group.

Same with Cat, Sam Mack, Michael Dickerson, Courtney Lee.

    Good role guys.

    Rafer and Mike?

So Beverley is getting traded for a more "traditional" PG who shoots a poor % and everyone will b**** about it.

Look out for the cold, Pat! Welcome to Houston, Wicky Wubio!

If Morey deserves any criticism, it would be for considering signing Villanueva, not for passing on him.

I think Morey knew that Dallas would go for him if he acted like he wanted him. Decided to punk Cuban and it worked.
