Steve is one lucky bastahd...a cover-shoot wit' Beyonce (and the whole Destiny's Child group)!!!!! I wonder if they keep in touch? BTW -- it's kinda funny to see ppl that know nothing about hip-hop/rap try to breakdown lyrics. *lol* Jay-Z says Yao Ming, btw. He is a Rockets fan and has said on shows, doing interviews that one of his fav. players is Steve Francis along with Iverson among others.
HEY SECLUSION... when he was on an interview down here via phone, someone asked him about that and HE SAID "Yea I said Yao Ming but I knew people would say i was saying You Know What I Mean...I threw that in there to make it fly over people's heads..." Dumb A$$ please don't make a comment unless u know the facts u MORON In the same Greatness as Bill Walton... "That(Seclusion's) has got to be the worst post ever in the Clutch BBS...HORRIBLE!!!" You prolly think that Ja-Rule and Nelly are pure Hip Hop artisits and have brought back lyrics to the game...
Look, I grew up around nothing but rap. If I want to listen to some lyrically great rappers, I turn on Biggie or Nas. Idiots like Jay-Z and Nelly only wish they could write thought-provoking lyrics. If Z mentions "Ming Dynasty" I sure as hell gonna assume he's talking basketball.
... for the record: From Amil's song "4 Da Fam" -- Jay-Z: Yo, y'all n*ggas truly ain't ready for this "Dynasty" thing/ Y'all thinkin "Blake Carrington", I'm thinkin more like "Ming" Song came out summer of 2000, way before Yao Ming was a household name in the States. Jay was definitely referring to the historical Ming Dynasty, not the basketball player.
Uh, I wouldn't go around saying Jay-Z is an idiot and Nas is great, they're pretty close to equal. Many would argue Jay-Z is better. Do you really know much about rap, hahaha?
After what 50 Cent, Eminem, and Busta did to Ja Rule and Irv Gatti, I would not call any of the Murder Inc family "Celebs" more like some straight beotches! LOL But Jigga is my man. To all the Jigga fans out there download the "Pump it up Remix" with Joe Buddens. MANY BASKETBALL References in that song by Jay Z and Joe Buddens. Its an absolute classic, Jay Z's verse is crazy tight. And Joe Buddens make a reference towards him being like Yao Ming "Whats sparking now" goes on to say "Step back Shaq, I'm whats starting now" Gotta love it. Jigga is ill!
I have had that song for a while, its still tight tho. Jay "Its Hovi baby, you Kobe maybe Tracy McGrady, matter a fact you are Harold Minner J.R. Rider, washed up on mar1juana" "You aint no athlete, you Shawn Bradley" Joe "Blowin up a dead man for the chedda, only way to play Joe is Def Jam Vendetta" "Stand out like Yao Ming, Im whats sparkin now, like fall back Shaq Im startin now" "Voice poppin it, Joints poppin spit, Im never round these parts Im Stojacivic" thats just a few I dunno, sh**s on fire! Buddens Blazin!
I was just listening to the "Still tha Row" remiix by Cooked I and he says the exact same thing as Jay-z. Specifically: We stand tall as who? Yao Ming (repeat)Yao Ming (Like Jay-z, it sounds like You know what I mean.) I can't believe I hadn't heard this before. I've had this song on my playlist for quite a while now but everytime it comes on I just get into the beat and forget to listen to the lyrics. Also, Finalsbound, I completely understand what you're saying about Jay-z being lyrically deficient when compared to guys like Nas, Talib, Em, Jada, Mos, Big, Pac, hell, even Kurupt... But still, there are times when he can spring up and surprise you with a decent verse. I wouldn't be shocked if he was referring to the Ming dynasty in China and not Yao. Of course, I wouldn't be shocked the other way, either.
You also came out the same year as the Thriller album. I will give you one thing... your sig is funny as hell.
