well, there is still a lot of hate against race, gender or religion, but you dont hear like: X player says he is muslim, and he will play in a country that is catholic. so there will be people who will still harass other people for their beliefs or preferences.

If it was a male ref, it would be a bigger deal. A lesbian basketball ref doesn't evoke all the locker-room fears, or challenge stereotypes of manliness in sports. Instead, she already has a locker-room to herself (probably also known as the women's bathroom) and she reinforces already well-established stereotypes. But, if a male ref announced his homosexuality, this board's yawn would be about as loud anyway. Only rudan and maybe 2 other guys would really have a problem with it, and they manage to stay in D&D anyway.
I feel like a good number of people in here are homophobic but too scared to admit it. Which is good, I guess. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it.
