Anyone here wear down the cartilage in their AC joint (where the collar bone and shoulder blade meet)? My Dr said the surgery isn't that bad, they just shave off a little of the bone so they don't rub against each other, which is the cause of the inflammation and pain. If you've had it done, how is the return to exercise? From what I read, it's about 12 weeks to have full range of motion. Once you had full range, did it continue to get sore and swollen, or is it 'like new'?
haha, it's not much fun. It gets pretty sore and after awhile it gets painful without ice and advil. The worst part about it is hearing and feeling the bones rub. The sound and feel of it is worse than the pain.
With xrays, it's pretty easy to see that there's no cartilage anymore. I'll get it checked out again before any decisions are made, but there isn't much question as to what it is. Just need to speak with someone who has had the surgery to see if it's worth the procedure.
That's not really a common issue so I doubt you'll find anyone on here who has had it. Might have better luck elsewhere on the internet. If you don't mind me asking was this due to overuse or an old injury?
