So I took my kids to LegoLand in Atlanta today and lost my iPhone while there. Searched the store, called it, played sounds through the Find My Phone app, and eventually put it on Lost Mode through Find My Phone as well. I checked and 4 hours later it was still located in the store. We filled out paperwork while there to give them a description and contact information if it is found.

Now the phone is more than likely dead and the location cannot be found. My question is, the Lost Mode pretty secure? I don't have any pertinent information on my phone but I still wouldn't want some stranger going through my things. Should I just choose erase the phone through the app?

I'm scheduled to leave here tomorrow unfortunately so it looks like I've lost it I just want the previous info on it secure or removed.

So did you lose it at the Legoland store? If so, I'm sure they have surveillance footage. If I read your post correctly it could either (a) still be in the store in some obscure spot or (b) more likely, someone who works there took your phone and will be fired for it. Regardless, most businesses will check their surveillance if you've left something in their store.

We asked about that but they didn't oblige. My guess is it was too busy.

My daughter left her backpack with Kindle in the Starbucks bathroom south of Times Square. This is a very well used bathroom as it is one of the few clean public bathrooms in the area. About 30 minutes after we left she remembered and we ran back (with very little hope of recovery, but you never know).

When we asked the barista behind the counter about a missing backpack, he immediately stated he didnt have it and it had been taken by someone else. He seemed really shady about the whole thing but I could prove nothing, so I called Amazon. In the 30 minutes between my daughter losing her Kindle and me calling Amazon, the person with the Kindle had purchased 3 books on how to start your own business. Then the barista showed up with the backpack but no Kindle, saying the bag was in the back.

When I mentioned this all to the manager, he got really strange about the whole thing and asked for my business card and he would get back to me after he "did some digging." A month later, I received a check from Starbucks for $150 labelled "damaged personal property". I think someone internally might have taken it and the manager figured it out.

    Kudos to Starbucks.
