Harden's DRPM ranked 398th out of 437 players which puts him in the bottom 10% of the entire league

Harden's ORPM ranked 5th out of 437 players which puts him in the top 1% of the entire league

In 2012-2013 his DRPM was only a -.9.
In 2011-2012 his DRPM was -1.1

So is it possible for Harden to get worse? Probaby. But is it also possible that he can give as much "effort" as he did in 2012-2013? Most likely since he's done it before.

Players that have had an ORPM of 5 or higher with a DRPM of 2 or lower

    2012-2013: Deron Williams (5.1/-2.8)
    2009-2010: Steve Nash (6.6/-2.0)
    2008-2009: Steve Nash (5.9/-2.2)
    2007-2008: Steve Nash (7.6/-2.2)
    2006-2007: Steve Nash (8.6/-2.6)
    2005-2006: Ray Allen (5.4/-2.1)
    2004-2005: Steve Nash (6.8/-2.0)
    Ray Allen (5.2/-2.1)

Just looking up these stats the names that pop up most when looking at horrid defense and very good offense playing SG were Kevin Martin, Michael Redd, Gilbert Arenas, and Ray Allen. NONE of those players IN THE PAST 10 years had an ORPM of 6 or higher like Harden has and he's produced twice as much compared to Martin and Redd.

So is Harden's defense bad? Absolutely. Can he improve? Without a doubt.

James Harden was a top 10 player last year and he's getting paid about the same as Chandler Parsons. He'll be underpaid for the next 4 years.

Seems like more people know more than me here regarding the Suns situation... I have heard NOTHING on this.

As the salary cap goes up, he's going to be a huge bargain for the team. All these stars are ending their contracts in two years so they can inflate their earnings. Harden is locked up for longer.

Sadly, you are right about the overall quality/tenor of posts on this BBS being simply awful in recent months. As dobro assumed (correctly) in another thread, my desire to post on this BBS in general has diminished greatly, with my preferred social medium increasingly being Twitter. I still continue to post here, obviously. Just with less frequency.

However, when such circumstances are thrust upon those of us viewed by many as "quality posters" (and I view you, basketballholic, as one of such posters), there are two avenues one can take.

The first--and, sadly, more prevalent--avenue is for one to let those circumstances get the better of oneself, dipping to lower levels in fruitless attempts to combat others and in the process lowering the quality of one's own posts.

The second avenue is to RISE UP above the chaos and muck, (continue to) provide high quality posts for those members who truly appreciate that sort of thing and to hopefully impart something to some of the less knowledgeable posters. Alas, even those with whom one is arguing might learn something and have his/her own opinion altered, if only slightly.

I am dismayed to see which avenue you have taken and which you continue to take.

I seriously hope you reconsider. You can be so much more for this BBS.

    For Bima and Cyberex...

Unfortunately in the past couple of years the bbs has changed greatly with individuals coming aboard trying to question any and everything without knowing the history of users on this board.

Back in the day when popeye, olie and old man posted with insider information we valued that info and understood that things can change in a mere second, but it was nice to get the info and then discuss it.

I thought when Lin left a lot of this nonsense would also leave, but it looks as if i was mistaken. It's sad to see and hear why you guys refuse to post anymore, but I truly understand why.

You and another insider (I won't post "insider" for him, because he's been on the board for awhile and is putting himself out there with the "rumors he hears" from his peeps) do have some disagreements.

Now, none of the rumors has pointed toward Ricky Rubio, but just to show where ya'll differ:

    First, Plowman.

    And now, cyberx.

Those were innocent times when a member would run into Hakeem at Whole Foods and we'd all go beserk about it. Or when someone overheard a phone conversation that we were getting Francis...

I have considered and considered and reconsidered. Go back and look through my post history and then if you really feel that I am being a detriment to this board then more power to you. This is a recent scrum that I took on because the poster in question has harangued and harassed multiple contributing member posters. All you have to do is hover the mouse over their username and click on view posts to see what they are putting out there.

Unfortunately, your priority seems to be a missing J and D instead of all this nonsense. Many of us let stuff go, let it go, let it go, just keep letting it go, over and over again. ONLY OCCASIONALLY do we bring it up and make an issue of it. And then when one of us takes a stand and points out what is hurting this board we become the object of contempt?

There are multiple posters on this board right now who need to have a seat in the penalty box for constantly attacking the character of other posters, calling them names, and making incendiary remarks. They need a nice little timeout from posting on this site so they can learn how to post about basketball without going into personal attacks. There's a certain respect, decency, and decorum that should be exist here for long-standing contributing member posters. And if there is any leniency given, it should be to those folks. Not to non-contributing members who have a couple hundred posts and 90% of those posts are inflammatory personal attacks.

I do care enough to say something and bring it to a head once in a while. It's unfortunate to me that apparently you don't care. Or apparently when I bring it to a head it is so painful that it miniaturize the mountains of posts that preceded it from posters attacking each other and calling each other idiots, etc. You'd rather see a J and a D in the right place instead of using your influence to crack back at posters that are making negative contributions here in post after post. Or as you admitted, you'd rather just cut and run to Twitter. You don't have to be a moderator to throw your weight around. All you gotta do is say something. But instead it's the J and the D that's important.

I don't get it. If you don't care and if Clutch don't care.....then should I? And if it's on me to make the BBS better, then make me a moderator and I'll put posters in time out that can't post basketball and instead make personal attacks on other posters. But if not, you and Clutch are buds. You guys put your heads together for a couple minutes and fix it. I've given my suggestions to the moderators here over and over. There should be zero tolerance for name-calling, personal attacks, and cursing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. If those simple rules were followed strictly it would eliminate 95% of the garbage we have to deal with here. And then the missing J and D become very, very simple to fix.

Everyone needs to calm down. LOL.

Let the idiots that provide zero substance be. They post stuff like the insiders are fake, they're "scrubs", etc yet visit threads like this religiously. T Whack, Haren, etc has been around for a while and I've probably referred to our coach as McFail a handful of times. It's immature and reads like a ESPN message board.

Some of these posters are still zit-faced teenagers. Hell, I was 18, 19 when I started posting here.

Sammy, would you let a bunch of adopted teenagers trash up the house and not pick up after themselves? Would you let them come in the house and get in MMA style fights, tear up the furniture, knock holes in the walls, crash the china cabinet, flip over the dinner table, and then shoot BBs at your beloved pets??

That's what you are saying here. Just let the thing go to hell. Like somehow that's going to make it better. No....it has gotten worse because it is being let go. That is the problem. We don't need or want zit-faced teenagers in here acting like teenagers. This ain't high school where they can sell dope in the hallways and stab each other in the classroom. It needs to stop or they need to go.

I agree. I think that once the season starts the last of the Lin crazies will leave and things will start to calm down a bit once we start winning some games.

I've said this before in another thread, but the collective mindset of the board is by far the worst I have ever seen it, from flagrant negativity about the upcoming season, disrespect towards our own best players, and a very pessimistic attitude overall.

I, on the other hand, could not be more excited about the upcoming season. This is the most excited I've been about a Rockets team since maybe that '09 team. We will surprise a lot of people, and I'm looking forward to shutting some people up (and some of the members on this board ;))

    Plowman or Cyberex:

Would you leverage the Rockets available options / players ASAP or wait to make another move??

How would you do it if you would want to make a move ASAP?

(I would be interested in an intelligent answer from anyone)

I went to school in china town area and for lunch one day stopped in the tapioca house. I cant remember if Yao owned it or if he was just there for some food as well. but I went up and talked to him (it was his early years so there was some difficulty) and some of his entourage.

he was about my height while sitting down and when we shook hands mine pretty much got lost somewhere under his thumb.

One of the coolest experiences ive had in Chinatown, and one of the oddest meetings with a rocket I have had (losing only to meeting Charles barkley at one of the first Houston comets games where he bought me a coke from a vending machine and tried to rip off my Michael Jordan jersey)
