I was under the impression that Mo Taylor cannot be traded b/c he signed a 1 yr contract however I noticed in JuanValdez's post that RealGM allowed it. Whats the rule on 1 yr contracts?

If he would have Bird rights or Early Bird rights at the end of this season, then he couldn't be traded with a one year contract.

    Roxtxia,

Maybe Mr. Mean & CD can work with Reeves & help him improve his game. As the old saying goes, you can't teach size. If he comes in with the right attitude & applies himself, the Rockets could have the makings of a dynasty (this is assuming that Rudy can put all the pieces together. My money is on Rudy. By the way, didn't MO have a bad rep when he came here? [IMG] It seems that he is starting to come around.). If Reeves doesn't work out, then eventually someone is going to need a big man & we'll be able to move him. If we get MO signed to a long term contract, then we'll have 3 good PF's & will probably have to move one of them. Maybe a package of Reeves, KT & a pick or two would do the trick. It all depends on Reeves attitude or how desperate some other team might get for some front court help.

Maybe we can work out an under the table agreement for Dream to come back for the veteran's minimum when his contract runs out, assuming he really wants to play another year or two. [IMG]

How long does Reeves have to go on his contract anyway?

I think Reef would be a nice addition. What does cap space get you. Nothing. Unless you have an unknown agreement with a player that is better than reef (ie Webber)then you've got to get Reef in town. Nothing is a sure thing in the off-season. A trade for Reef is a sure thing for the Rockets and he fills a weak position. We'd also get a big man that can take up space. I would do it if there was way to keep Hakeem out of this, but if he want to play, why not. He won't be playing here anyway. I think Rudy would do it as well. Reef is worth the twenty something million so long as he wants to be in Houston for a long time. You've got to build one piece at a time. Reef is the second best Small Forward in the game. He's a major upgrade. We already have Cato in the middle for defense. All we would need is someone to hit the boards full time.

    Texasalsa,

According to RealGM, Detroit is over the cap. The Bulls & Clippers are the only teams not over the cap at this time. So, if you don't like including Chicago in a trade, here's one involving the Clippers.

    Houston sends LOS/Walt/Dream to Vancouver
Houston sends Cato to the Clippers

    Vancouver sends Othella/Reeves/Shareef to Houston
Vancouver sends Swift/Bibby to the Clippers

    L.A. sends Dooling/Rooks to Vancouver
    L.A. sends Miles/Kandi to Houston

I don't think that this deal is as good to all the teams involved as the 3 way with Chicago. It heavily favors the Rockets. What can I say, after all, it's my dream casting.

I think the Clippers might go for it, because they would be getting Swift & a true point guard in Bibby. I'm not sure if they would want Cato or not.

Houston would have to go for such a deal. We could then trade Miles & maybe KT to Chicago with the condition being that they had to take Reeves also. Who knows, they might do it. They signed Mercer didn't they?

Vancouver is the one that I think would not go for it unless they really wanted to do a salary purge. The one thing that would surely make them balk, is giving up Swift. But, with enough #1 picks thrown in, who knows.

I really don't think that this deal would fly, but it works salary wise & it's all in fun anyway. [IMG]

In your deal the Clips come out less than even, but not too shabby. on the other hand Vancouver is totally SCREWED.

Dooling Rooks, Walt, los, and dream to replace pretty much their starting lineup(reeve, Rahim, bibby, harrington, and swift)?

Just thought I would come by and tell you that Reef probably won't be going anywhere.

Firstly, both Knight and now Reef have come out and denied it. Both have said that while both of them, and everyone else, is frustrated with the losing that doesnt mean that they want to give up. (As a side both Bibby and Dickerson have both come out this week and said how much they love Vancouver and that both would be quite happy playing their carriers out here).

Secondly, Reef is only in his second year of his contract and as such we can not take back his full contract making him almost untradeable.

Also the level of panic is withing the organization is much less than what the media is reporting here. The team was doing fine untill we lost Kevin Edwards in our backcourt and we went on a losing streak (enhanceed by losing Dickerson as well) and then hit our next losing streak with the injury to Grant Long. Now I know you guys in Houston are saying who cares about those two scrubs but they are our defensive stabalizers and the guys who keep the team focused.

Lastly, I dont really need to mention the reliablity of Vescey. Added to that is the fact that the Vancouver media picks up Grizzlies stories from out of town and runs with them as the papers are filled with hockey writers (the top bball writer in vancouver was a high school bball writer for a free puclication in the burbs before the Grizzlies came to Vancouver - he was considered to be the top bball writer at the time).

The truth is that Vancouver is looking to move Massenburg for a swingman to help Vancouver's new change to smallball. With the rescent play of the last week you wont see any major deal. Vancouver just wants a tweak as they are leading the league in losses by only 5 points (in a 5 game streach after christmas they lost 4 games by less than 2 points).

As the report goes, the only way Reef gets moved is if they get to get rid of Reeves contract as well. Otherwise forget about it.

BTW Vancouver could have had Maurice Taylor last year for Harrington and it got vetoed by the current team so why do you think they would move Reef for him now? The Rockets only have 2 highly marketable players to be traded and Francis is better than Reef (yes a Grizzlies fan said that) and Mobley (who isn't worth as much as Reef to the Grizzlies as they have Bibby and Dickerson). Dont expect a move with Houston.
