Hmmm! John Starks? I'm not too sure about that! I rather have Clyde the glide as offensive coach and Mario Elie on the defensive coach position.

I agree with Band Geek Monster.

JEFF VAN GUNDY'S JOB IS TO COACH THE ROCKETS.

He gets paid 4.5 million to be the coach.

Well he already has his OWL EYES today. He met Moochie...Moochie is like only 1 inch taller than him....

    Well anyways.

Yeah....he loves to coach and he analyzes videotapes 24/7 anyways. It isn't a problem for him.

That's what he loves to do.

And as a coach......well it is good to watch tapes of your team. He needs to learn about our team and see how they played and see how they progressed.

And of course the games are edited. There are no halftime reports or commercials.

And he can fastforward when he wants.

And he has assistants to help.

Trust me guys, as a former Knicks fan, the Rockets are in good hands. Cuttino and Steve Franchise will play defense and learn to pass. Yao Ming will grow by leaps and bounds, especially if Pat Ewing is showing him the ropes. The Rockets will be just as exciting, but with VG cracking the bullwhip, they will actually stop some people next season, unlike this year.

I dislike hiring Ewing, or Starks as much as anyone, but if we are going to trust VG to coach the team he needs the people he thinks can do the job he wants done. Its his job on the line, not ours.

If Ellie, Malone or Hakeem were good enough coachs to help the team and Rudy knew them all, why were they not assistant coachs on the team before now?

I know some players are going to get uncomfortable thinking JVG is watching their every moves on court in the past season?

Yes I would care, because if they won 4 rings in 10 years, it didn't ****ing matter who the assistant coaches were, which means we could've won the damn rings anyway, without ****ing Knicks and Georgetown Hoyas who beat Phi Slamma Jamma on our bench. How's that?

Assistant coaches don't ****ing matter, unless your coach is Larry Bird or Phil Jackson, so may as well have some Rockets (remember them?) on the goddamned bench.

Check this out... Dunleavy is 3rd option for Wizards job? Now I know Van Gundy was the right coach for Houston.

Dunleavy also mentioned for Wizards' job

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ESPN.com news services

He lost out to Jeff Van Gundy in Houston. He may lose out to Rick Carlisle or Eddie Jordan in Washington.

Will Mike Dunleavy's re-entry into the NBA coaching ranks now come in Los Angeles with the Clippers?

Dunleavy is expected to interview in the next few days for the Clippers job that was last held by interim coach Dennis Johnson, who took over when Alvin Gentry was fired during the season.

Dunleavy was the second choice for the Rockets' job that was accepted by Van Gundy earlier this week. Carlisle and Jordan appear to be the leading candidates for the Wizards' vacancy, although Dunleavy remains an option there.

If Carlisle doesn't get the Wizards' job, he'll also be a candidate for the Clippers' opening as the NBA's coaching carousel reaches warp speed.

Dunleavy, father of Golden State forward Mike Dunleavy Jr., already has one L.A. coaching stint on his resume. He coached the Lakers for two seasons starting in 1990, reaching the NBA Finals in his first season before losing to Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls.

Dunleavy has also coached in Milwaukee and Portland. He last coached the Trail Blazers in 2001, and was a television commentator this season for the San Antonio Spurs.

Last summer, he pulled his name from consideration for the Warriors' head coaching job because of the uncomfortable situation of coaching his son, the third overall pick in last year's draft.

I was about to respond with a lengthy essay about how Alexander is in no way a Judas figure and JVG is certainly nowhere close to an embarrassment and Ewing is a top 50 player and many Rockets fans would secretly have loved to have a gamer like Starks on their team...

...when I noticed that this poster's handle includes Chievous, and that explains his post without me having to say anything.

    ho man...

These are strong words by JVG:

I hope it's not just hot air. Knowing JVG's work ethic, I think it's sincere.

hmm..... I just may put that in my signature.
