You'd be surprised how quickly a water park can go up. There's a new one on TX 130 in Pflugerville that was nothing more than an open field just last winter. It was open with probably less than 1/2 the slides they plan on...but it's open and doing relatively well so far.

Hmm, I guess I can see them doing that. Opening with only part of it.

How many water parks do we need? We have three right?

    Galveston, spring and Baytown right?

    More than enough.

There's one in Baytown? How did I not know that.

I was hoping for a water park in Cypress. Lots of unused land around 290 and 99.

    Pirates bay water park.

Don't think it's as big as splashtown or schlitterbahn, but it's an alternative.

Pretty small but it's got pretty good reviews. Surprised there isn't anything on the west or south side of town.

Just west seems pretty relative. lol. It's the same distance from Cinco Ranch to Schlitterbahn Galveston than it is to Splashway Sheridan.

Well yeah, I know that. :)

But people were talking about Splashtown in Spring, the one in Baytown, and then Galveston, and wondering why there wasn't one West. It's pretty much the same thing. I can drive over an hour to Galveston, too.

Although, Splashway is certainly no Schlitterbahn.

PROPOSED NEW PARK in 2016 / NEW WATERPARK in 2015

Grand Texas Theme Park - (7/24/14) The latest update to the Grand Texas theme park and entertainment complex plans is the inclusion of a new race track into the mix. This will be a 2-mile long track to run mainly Go-Karts and Super Karts, though the layout will allow for other kinds of racing as well.

The project has already broken ground and cleared the site for their first phase and are hard at work installing the needed underground infrastructure. The RV Park will break ground in mid-August, then the Sports Complex in September followed by the waterpark in November, with tentative plans to begin work on the theme park itself in early 2015 in order to make the Summer 2016 grand opening.

Not to keep harping on it but didn't they just say the waterpark would be done by Memorial Day 2015? That's in May. Now they're saying November.

It's a less than encouraging sign to me that Phase I of this "theme park" includes an RV Park.
