    Note- as of this post, the Marvel U server is getting hammered. Took me about 3 hours to place an order (saw the charge on my bank acct) and it hasn't even registered me as a Marvel U subscriber yet.

    I would just pick up a long-running series and take it from there. Your knowledge and interest will expand out because Marvel crosses over characters constantly.
