Realistically, I think the Rockets would be happy if Nick Johnson can become the next Courtney Lee-- athletic but undersized 2 guard, plays good pressure defense, shoots 3, slashes to the basket, appeals to female fans.
Lowry? I'll be happy if can make it as an NBA rotation player. I would be shocked if Johnson ever became as good as Lowry. And it's ridiculous for anyone to even compare him to Chris Paul. I see Johnson at this point as someone that is similar to a Patrick Beverley. Johnson probably needs to spend a year in the D-League working on his ball handling. It is encouraging that he's been playing well. If Canaan struggles on defense, then maybe Johnson gets some playing time with the Rockets. I don't see Johnson being used at shooting guard, when we have Harden and Daniels.
Canaan is nowhere near CP3, I'll say this, Nick is already a better player than Canaan, and Nicks future is much brighter than Canaans
Handles maybe, but vision is close. I was talking about the control of the game, control of his body on offense...
Shannon brown... lol But i want to say he is way better than that, more like Courtney Lee on Steroids.
No one is saying that Johnson will suck.. but you just don't compare someone who doesn't have similar qualities to CP3. Compare him to someone else. Not CP3.
One of the worst comparisons ever. I don't know which is worse the Tj and dwight comparison or this. I like Nick but I also like Cannon. I will probably be flamed for this but I think Johnson and Cannon should be allowed to compete with Beverly for the starting pg spot.
Nick may not be a Chris Paul, but he looks to be a winner and a leader on the court. I dare say Canaan had to up his aggressiveness a bit to stay in pace with Nick's energy. Canaan is a better scorer but Nick seems to be a glue guy, doing whatever it takes to help his team win. Maybe he can take a bit of the role that Parsons used to play for us for the bench unit.
