Good view, crap food: The ENTIRE Kemah boardwalk is the king of this category. If you're ever there, go eat on the other side of the Boardwalk - the non-Ferttita-ized part... Ferttita & Landry's = crap food, gaudy surroundings.
Overpriced food. Everyone of his restaurants are over priced for the level of food. Cadillac Bar= good food, but waaaaaaaay to much for Mexican Landry's= no Aquarium= Okay food, over priced Joe's Crab Shack= Not good food, still over priced Now, I do like Willie G's, even though it is still overpriced, but I think the food, especially the fish dishes, is pretty good.
I haven't been to LA or San Fran. but I've been to NY and Chicago several times...ya can't forget Chi-town
Amen. Go eat at Pappadeaux's in Seabrook. Kemah used to be a cool place until Tillman go ahold of it. Damn shame.
Landry's has good boiled crawfish...i prefer Pappadeaux overall...but Landy's boiled crawfish is much better.
If you are remotely close to 1960 / Champions Area, go to Floyd's. The Owner is a memeber of the Landry family but has opened his own small chain. Better crawfish, awesome creamy crab bisque. View is sh*t, but if you are asking about crawfish, my answer is Floyd's.
If you want good Kemah food, don't go to the Boardwalk, stay on Highway 146 and go to T-Bone Toms. Not the best steak/hamburger joint ever, but still better than anything on the waterway. BTW...is The Magic Time Machine still open in Austin (or San Antonio). I remember eating there about 15 years ago and being severed by The Green Lantern and Pocahontas. The salad bar was built into the inside of a gutted-out VW bug. Pretty neat place, food was par.
Agreed. It's awesome. One of the things I miss in Austin. It was a great place to go with a cooler full of beer and empty belly and leave with the opposite. Is there another one besides the one in Driftwood? Market Street BBQ in Luling is a close second, but the portions aren't nearly as big.
Quick...get a medic in here STAT !!! We have a bleeder !!!!!!! Dude, what is Salt Lick, only the best BBQ anywhere in the universe. If you are in Austin, go NOW....in fact, I am going to take my company there for lunch today because of this thread. Go South on Mopac until it turns into 45, when it dead ends take a left on 1826 (I think that is the road number) and go about 10 minutes and it will be on the right hand side of the road. Trust me....you need to go there. Rudys is good, but it pales in comparison to Salt Lick. DD
I think I'll have to make a BBQ road trip to Austin. Hit up Salt Lick and of course Rudy's. And see for myself.
