I like tj. I hope he blows up for us next year. And remember, the teams that win titles are the teams who find players like tj, not the ones who pay him a max deal.
TJones is gonna be a very marketable...asset! But I do agree with the OP...of all the picks we made that draft class, Terrence has shown flashes of being a very good player.
I think on a contending team, Terence Jones is likely a 6th man or key rotation player. He should only be a started if you have 4 above average starters elsewhere. TJ is very versatile and a nice scoring punch but his defense, rebounding, and size leave a lot to be desired in a Western Conference stacked with really good PFs.
Agree TJ has great production and good upside. Fans here have a strange way of knocking this young talent. topfive, an even better statistical comparison are the per36min and advanced of TJ vs. Bosh. It's surprisingly close, even in defensive categories. These stats don't tell the whole story, but at least it would narrow the bridge between TJ supporters and people who think he's only an asset to be replaced.
There are a lot of people that are overrating Jones. He's an okay, somewhat under-sized, not great shooting, pretty bad defending, PF. I don't see him being in the Rockets' long-term plans.
Does the third year leap include adding 2 inches of height and 20# of muscle for defending the interior? Cause that would be useful.
We have a scrub bench and are very weak at the PF spot unless Tjones and Dmo decide to play D along with Greenlight Harden. I'm really excited with the 2nd unit of Adrien, Dorsey, Isiah, Covington, Nick Johnson, Troy Daniels. Summer League teams at the Fonde would light these guys up like a Christmas tree.
For some reason, I feel TJ might improve greatly later in his career. I mean he put up good numbers for his season. Just need more defense.
