Something to remember: teams can carry up to 20 players under contract until the end of preseason, when they have to cut down to 15. There is no reason why a team in HOU's position would not use all 20 roster slots at this point. The only cost to signing a minimum wage player is paying a guy whatever he is guaranteed if you cut him and the $ takes up room under the $80.6M "hard cap" activated by the Ariza S&T-- which the team is no where close to right now. This is pretty much what Morey did last offseason when he loaded the roster up with the likes of Marcus Camby, Reggie Williams, and Aaron Brooks. Give these guys a shot, see how it works in the preseason and cut down to 15 when needed.
I like Adrien & Dorsey's ok, but if we're signing back up big help, I'm sure OT & Kevin Willis are both still in playing shape.
I get the criticism for the Dorsey signing, but I actually really like the Adrien addition. He posted 11/7/1/1/1 with above average advanced stats in 28 games for Milwaukee last year.
Bev, Canaan, Johnson Harden, Daniels, Hopson Ariza, (Papanikolaou), Covington, Gee Jones, Motiejunas, Adrien(6-6), Powell Howard, Dorsey(6-8), Capela Morey just wants to play a lineup with the shortest frontcourt in the league next season
I can't stand these idiots running around like headless chickens badmouthing our team and FO for signing serviceable vets for the vet min.
Out of all qualified power forwards, Jeff Adrien ranked 7th in defensive rebound rate and 6th in total rebound rate. He rebounded 57% of all available rebounds.
Yup. We're a stats driven team. Guess what quality is always underrated but can be properly identified by a smart stats driven FO? That's right, defense. We've committed to improving defenses. We signed two bangers in the low post and a defensive stud on the wing. Morey flat out said we needed Ariza to compensate for Harden, and the reason he was worried about Parsons as a third wheel is that Howard, Harden and Parsons was too weak defensively (bc Harden needs a defensive stud next to him).
