He's a career 37% 3pt shooter even with his 28% season, around 39% if you consider last season an anomaly.
I'd be ok with this if we were matching Parsons in addition. But on it's own meh. A wing tandem of Ariza and Parsons and a PF tandem of Jones and Ilyasova would have made for great depth and a myriad of matchup possibilities. Also you might have been able to trade Lin for him and save that pick.
I strongly agree. Move Jones in order to make a significant move? For example, Jones being demanded in a reasonable deal to get a player of Rondo's caliber? Sure. I'd hate to do it, because I feel like a lot of people here that developing your talent is something that just makes sense, as does developing continuity, but to just toss him into a deal for what appears to me to be no good reason is the wrong way to build a team, in my opinion.
Jones has it all - PF size with wing skills. But he plays small instead of using his considerable physical strength and size. Jones has actually regressed on D, like most Rockets players not named Howard or Beverley. Instead of always looking for his shot, he needs to be a role player. Rockets need a stretch 4 who can defend - those are the skills he needs to work on, but his mental lapses and on court body language do not give me hope. He just looks lost or uninterested on defense, only time he comes alive is on weak side block opportunities. If he could just get it together between the ears, Jones would be unstoppable. Size, athleticism, ball handling, pedigree (coached by Calipari, played at Kentucky), sky is the limit for him.
Exactly. Then when the deadline comes up and a team like the Celtics are looking to dump Rondo and tank, Jones and a few picks would net us a player of that caliber.
Why not both. Instead of asking for a pick to take Ilyasova, include Henson. Rockets may need to add some salaries like Hopson to make it work however.
we have non guaranteed contracts of gee, hopson, powell, etc. to send also...celtics could waive those guys afterwards.
Just fealized Delfino is unguaranteed for the 2014-15 season. I don't expect a deal to happen, but if we could get Delfino and Ilyasova, and if (big if) both were healthy they would be a nice addition. Trade TPE + 2nd for Ilyasova (seperate trade) Trade Gee and Powell for Delfino and Raduljica Sign Jameer Nelson. Bro Henson had a great season, he's Jones with good defense. Only way were getting Henson is with the NOP pick or Jones.
