Chandler Parsons offended how the Rockets treated him in free agency

I think most of us aren't angry that he signed such a contract. I think what has annoyed most of us is how he went about it. It was not smart on his part to take those pictures with Cuban if he strongly expected us to match. Somebody that fully expects to be resigned by the same team typically would not want to be caught partying with a rival owner. Then saying he was "offended" was the wrong word to use in that article.

CF can be so sensitive at times. All he said was he believed he could be the THIRD BEST player on a team. He didn't say he was Durant or Lebron or even an all-star. He specifically said third star, which he has every right to believe in.

Best of luck to Chandler. He was great for the Rockets, and it was easy to tell during the games he missed last season. I'm more than sure internal improvement of our roster and Ariza can more than make up for Chandler's absence, but he will be missed.

Cuban has reputation among players' for "treating his players right".

In the past day Morey has gone onto every media outlet to sell to Houston fans the PR massage about how "untradeable" Parsons contract is.

The above may be true but big picture he's inadvertently advertising to every NBA player that even new signings under Morey are just "trade assets".

Time to stop wondering why he has a poor strike rate in free agency.

They were looking for someone who was more clutch and on the level of a Harden or at least in his vincinity.

A hard worker someone like a Ginobili or Harden on OKC before he came over, someone who has the accolade of a 6th man of the year.

Chandler is a 4th option on the Heat, and is lucky to be a 3rd option on the Rockets. He is not a sure thing.

"I'm the best recruiter in the NBA."

SMH. Someone is awfully full of himself. Lebron says hi. Dude thinks he's a star. Make a got damn all-star team first, sonn.

I wonder how likely it is that we'll see Parsons in a Rockets uniform again in the future. Seems crazy right now but you can't entirely discount it. If Lebron can return to the Cavs, anything can happen. And we all know Morey isn't too proud to go hat in hand to free agents we've previously cut or traded, e.g. Lin, Ariza, Lowry.

Jason Terry will officially sign with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday and he recently made his first comments on departing the Mavericks for the green pastures of Beantown.

Though it was already plainly evident because Terry had said he would return to the Mavericks if he got the same offer as any other team presented him in free agency, Terry did confirm in an interview with RF Sports radio that the matching offer never came when he hit the open market on Sunday.

“I had three teams looking at me and Dallas didn’t come to the table,’’ Terry said. “Had I got the same phone call from Dallas, I’d still be there. But I didn’t.’’

The Mavericks made it clear that they did not want to go three years to keep Terry, who agreed to a three-year deal worth north of $15 million with the Celtics. Did that leave him surprised?

“Very surprised,’’ he said. “What I was able to do for the organization and the community, I thought they would bring me back. But things happen in life. It may not always go your way. God always puts you in a position where he wants you.’’

Tyson Chandler had a serious case of denial going in the off-season.

There was no way he wouldn’t be back with the Mavericks after helping them to the NBA championship, he thought.

“I honestly didn’t believe that I wasn’t coming back until I put ink to paper,” he said Sunday. “My agent told me, ‘I don’t think you’ll be going back to the Mavericks.’
“I was like, he’s been right every other time in my career, but he’s wrong this time. There was no way I wasn’t going back.”

Chandler said he thought he would retire with the Mavericks. But with management intent on keeping salary-cap space available for next summer, Chandler got only a one-year offer. He signed with the Knicks for four years and over $50 million.

“When you reach the ultimate goal, it’s difficult to walk away from that,” Chandler said. “And I didn’t think I was.”

Some quick back story: Nash came to the Mavericks in 1998 and with a young Nowitzki helped turn the franchise into a winner. As the team became a playoff staple and the Nash-Nowitzki bromance grew, owner Mark Cuban brought in more high-priced players to keep the team in contention, and when Nash’s contract was up in 2004, Cuban offered him a four-year contract worth about $9 million annually. Nash instead went to the Suns, who offered him a longer and much more lucrative deal.

Barea expressed disappointment last week over the dimming prospect of returning to the Mavs.

"I wasn't expecting it to be like this after everything we did, after my five years here, after what we did last year," Barea said on ESPN 103.3's Ben and Skin Show. "Now you've just got to go with it and things happen."

Barea said the Mavericks had refused to offer deals that went beyond one year.

Barea had said the Mavericks' plan to possibly sign one of the free-agent superstars expected to be available next summer had not been clearly articulated to him or his agent, Dan Fegan.

"We don't understand what's going on with the management here in Dallas," Barea said. "I don't know what their plans (are). Their plan is not to bring me back, not to bring Tyson back, so we'll see what happens."

Uh, last I checked Cuban doesn't have a great record with free agents either. And as far as "treating his players right" goes, he let Steve Nash, Tyson Chandler and Jason Terry walk because he didn't wanna pay them what they were worth. Your evidence is anecdotal at best. Besides his extreme loyalty to Nowitzki, he's just like the rest. Dirk's his #1 prized thoroughbred, of course he's gonna ride him til he breaks down. When it comes down to it, Cuban is ruthless and will do anything to win.

It's silly to sign players to untradeable contracts. That's what bad GMs do. Every GM makes mistakes, the good ones take out insurance so they can fix them. People want to crucify Morey for constantly making trades, but he'd get just as much criticism if he wasn't working his ass off to continually improve the roster.

Very poor examples. Those contracts were up and the team headed into a different direction. Excellent examples of players being entitled though.

Believe you can be a 3rd star all you want, but if OKC decided to push hard to bring in Lebron and Durant was mad that the organization didn't think he was good enough to be THE guy I would call him a dumb*** too.

It's not like by going after these free agents we were asking Parsons to play for pennies so that we could get someone better than him. The plan was bring in a better guy AND give him his money.

Bull****in****- and you know it, too. Oh, but when it's Mavericks players acting that way, they're entitled, but when it's Rockets players, it's our owner and GM treating them wrong? GTFO- Chandler and Barea helped them win a ****ing championship, for Christ's sake- and they're going in a different direction a year later? Laughable. What are you, Cuban's cousin? GMAFB.

Yes, Hoodoo conveniently forgets the Mavs missing out on Deron Williams, Dwight Howard, and... oh yeah, Melo this year. WAFJ.

My post wasn't even about keeping scores between the Mavs and the Rockets. Completely off the mark.

I can't be bothered with immature responses like those. Time to update the ignore list.

The mature response is that Morey has an equal or better track record of landing free agents than Cuban and that Cuban has NOT always been known to treat his players right. If you choose not to accept that, that is your right. But that doesn't make it correct.

And I've never had to put any poster on any ignore list- ever. That is for the weak-minded. Feel free, though...free country, sir.
