Why would he sign for less or without the trade kicker just to make himself more convenient for Morey to use as a trade asset?

The contract he signed means that the team that gets him wants him to keep, not to trade. It's fine that Morey's valuation of Parsons differs from that of Mark Cuban's. And it's fine that Morey would only want Parsons as a trade asset unless they landed Chris Bosh first. Those are his analysis and I don't doubt that he did his homework (just like Cuban did). But Parsons did nothing wrong by accepting an offer that not only compensates him well but also make it less likely that he gets thrown into a trade.

What would suck is for Parsons to turn out to be the next James Harden. Then it will truly have come full circle.

Guess some guys on here were right and he was keen on leaving because he felt Morey saying we're trying to get that third star when he felt he was that guy. I'm actually glad Parsons just keep adding fuel to the fire. Rockets organisation and fans could feel that picture of him signing in a freaking club with Cuban was offensive. His ego has seriously gotten to his head and I can't wait to kick his ass when we face the Mavericks!! The best recruiter, really Chandler?? Ow yeah, another bonus: no more chandler BANG, freaking boy p*rn name.

What I don't understand is how anyone can think Parsons isn't being a ****head for the comments he made. You value yourself one way, the boss sees you another. Last I checked, he signed the checks. Morey did him one hell of a solid by not making him play that final year @ 1M, so I don't understand why he'd open his mouth about he feels "offended". You feel offended by your employer allowing you to hit the market and see what your value (though that is not exactly the case as his real value and what teams will foolish shell out is different) is a year before your contract is over? What?

And it should come as ABSOLUTELY NO SURPRISE that Morey wanted to bring in a 3rd star. What team wouldn't try to go after a superstar if they had the means to do so? All in all, Parsons has word means little after what Batum did to it.

I hope when he comes to town and starting lineups are called that no one boo's him but instead pulls out a newspaper and ignores him.

Interesting to think that Chandler would have probably been down to a S&T to Minnesota as part of a Love deal if the Dallas opportunity didn't come. He wants to be the man.

I was thinking the same thing. Cuban-douche and Fagan talking him up and stroking his ego right before they go in for the hard sell.

Maybe the rockets didn't need to go after that fabled 3rd star and just build a rock solid bench and address the coaching (or lack thereof) situation, but then again, maybe even that wouldn't be enough to get them over the hump. I don't know, but they definitely needed something.

At the end of the day, though, Parsons is a Mav so now I must hate him and hope that entire team has a massive collapse and sucks... forever.

Offended was an incredibly poor choice of words.

Maybe if he said he was extremely motivated to prove Houston wrong, it would have been much better received. But he said offended. Not smart. And now not backing down from them shows he just doesn't get it...or doesn't care.

You can tell how young he is. Doesn't even realize the power of his words. Things like this can come back to haunt players if they aren't careful.

As to the dispute about how much of a star he is? A "star" player would have won something first like....oh...I don't know....maybe a PLAYOFF SERIES? Or maybe have an individual accolade like leading the league in something or becoming an all star.

Had those things happen yet Chandler? (checks over NBA guide).

    NOPE.

While I would never wish injury on any player (well, maybe Malone), it's Parson's back that gives him problems. There were several games this past season where he was clearly limited by his back problems and that kind of injury can come back to bite ya with one awkward fall.

Chandler may be a star or an upcoming star, but he's not a superstar or an elite player as Morey put it.

    Good post.

I am surprised the backlash chandler is getting. I do not think he did anything wrong.

Well IMHO Parsons needs to learn how to score in ISOs if he wants to be the man. Of you look at his heat map his red spots are the 2 areas in the 3 pt line and in the paint. This screams role player to me, a dude who hits the open 3 and then receive handoffs in the paint.

If he wants to be the man he should learn to score one on one because most defenses will now focus on stopping him since HnH isn't there anymore.

He knew very well we would build a big 3.
Every ballclub was going to try building a big 3 since Miami Heat's trio came alive.

I think he has a different perception what a star in this league is.

A star is someone who can create for himself and his teammates while being the focus of the game most of the time.

He was capitalizing on the attention Dwight and Harden got.

Dirk, Ellis and Felton are chuckers, would surprise me if he got enough shots.

So did Chandler Parsons "Jeremy Lin'ed" us? Or did we "Dolan'ed" his ass?

I recall Harden didn't show up but a lot of toxic folks want to keep pointing out Lillard's last second shot.

What about the fact Harden changed the D.

    or

McHale pulling Lin out, whom had been defending Lillard very well.
