Lin with an ego..? parsons is a bit much but Lin is nowhere close to parsons. i used to like parsons but he overrates himself a little too much and talks too much.

he may be in for a rude awakening.

    Yep.

I think the biggest issue is the reputation we have around the league at this point. We went from the land of iPads and Dynex tvs to the team that views players as commodities that will be flipped as soon as possible. While the NBA is a business, it's not good business to have a rep as an organization that views it's players strictly as "assets."

And as far as Parsons goes, he is sounding very cocky but it also sounds like he's going to play with a chip on his shoulder. It'll be interesting so see if he does become a superstar and lives up to that contract.

What's seriously frustrating is that these interviews by Parsons makes the Rockets as a whole look bad to other players when in reality he just has no f***ing clue what he's talking about. We had to get Bosh before matching you, idiot.

Although I agree Parsons is a bit overrated (and of course, he overrates himself too), he has more upside than Trevor Ariza, probably a LOT more. Ariza is making close to $10M per year, and Parsons about $15M per year. The extra $5M can give you probably another role/backup player. Will that make that big of a difference?

If you guys get over your homeyness and utter awe of Morey's MIT and number crunching, you will remember that Parsons is already a well-rounded player: he shoots well, slashes and drives to the basket well, and passes pretty well too. Defensively he is not great, but neither are most players on the team, and that's due to our favorite coach. Dwight and Pat played good defense, but Howard learned that from the other Van Gundy, and Patrick just played his personality (and the reason he got to start anyway).

More worrisome is Parsons is close with Dwight, and arguably he tipped the big guy over the fence to come to Houston. Will this push Dwight out in 2 years when he can opt out, or worse, demands a trade if Rockets do terribly next season?

But, probably the worst mistake for Morey was to not pick up the option for Parsons' last rookie year contract for around $950K. I am sure Morey assumed no one would bid up Parsons as a restricted, not realizing that many teams had cleared up cap room for this summer big free agency season.

I'm offended by how my former favorite player on the Rockets is acting now, after the Rockets drafted him, gave him a chance to shine, let him out of his contract a year early so he could get paid, and conveniently never seems to mention how we let him have that chance at a big contract a year early. Not only that, now he brags about trying to steal our players, in between bragging about what a "star" he is. Offended? I have to laugh. What an enormous *******. He kept it well hidden while he was here, and now the real Chandler Parsons is out there, seemingly unable to shut up.

These players have to know the difference between proven (star) players and promising players that have talent and "upside." It's the uncertainty that makes the latter more risky...and that's why you go after the proven players.

I think some players just look for motivation and try to be a chip-on-their-shoulder kind of guy like it makes them cool or more blue collar or something. Or they think they have to say things like this in public to maintain an image. I really can't see how he'd be offended at how this offseason has gone.

Lol, people overrate Parsons when he's playing here and thinks he's a star.

Overrate him when trade discussion come up and thinks we can get quality stars back for him.

Now that he's gone, with a parting shot no less, y'all suddenly all agree that he's a scrub.

    Nice going.

The douche is strong with this one...Perfect fit for Dallas. Go F**K yourself CP. It won't take Ariza long to figure out that BS pump fake he pulls everytime he touches the ball.

That article the other day explains exactly what's going on here.

For a million dollars you were a steal, Chandler.

    For 15 million, however....

This! Screw him. The Rockets were willing to pay the max for him to be a huge part of a contender. My hate list grows...

While Parsons sounds like a douche, I don't think he meant it as bad as it sounds.

He is saying that he's "offended" not being seen as the Rockets' third wheel. I remember reading a post that said, "If the FO openly states that they are all out looking for the #3 guy, willing to dump anybody not named Howard or Harden to get that guy, how do players 3-12 of the current team feel?" It just tells the players that you are just a chip for us to get what we really want.

Parsons no doubt overrates himself. But I don't fault him for wanting to be treated as part of the core rather than a chip to get the real core. Loyalty goes two ways.
