Well Cat, you did it again. Why pass it to a wide open Steve when you can be a hero yourself. Good one. You cost us yet another game. Thanks Cuttino. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
damnit, I couldnt agree more. Just when Steve steps up as a leader in crunch time and is obviously feeling it, Cuttino jacks up a shot that made me say "what the hell was that?". Steve was wide open yellin for the ball ready to knock down the 3 and another possiblity would have been to call a timeout because we did have one. Officiating, Cuttino, and Rudy's horrid player rotations cost us tonight. Especially Cuttino. ------------------
The Jazz were not playing that well tonight IMO. We should not have even been in the position to have to try to win on a last secound shot. That was just the last of many bonehead plays by many of the Rockets tonight. ------------------
Abbsolutely right. I really think you're right. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
That's right, take Mobley, our second leading scorer off the team it's like a 5 or 10 game turnaround! Yeah, without Mobley we're 20-13, with Mobley we're 16-17. I know you're upset, but some of you guys have to see what you posted. . . ------------------ "I have a scale at home and it only goes up so far, I love that scale!" - Charles Barkley TNT Studios [This message has been edited by RocksMillenium (edited January 06, 2001).]
How many Games has Cuttino cost the Rockets now? Hey, if you are shooting 4-16, don't take the last bloody shot. That is moronic. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
That's right ZRB. Rudy needs to put Mobley in his place. Rudy has been kissing Mobley's ass every since he hit that game winning shot in Golden State. ------------------
Okay man, it's obvious you have some personal problems with Cuttino. To imply were a better team without Cuttino is beyond ludicrous. I'm not going to even waste my time arguing with somebody, like yourself, who apparently has such a keen perception in the field of basketball. ------------------ [This message has been edited by ROCKETBOOSTER (edited January 06, 2001).]
It's games like tonight that make me so frustrated with Mobley. No, I don't have a personal problem with Mobley, but he's not worried about the team, he's worried about his stats and being the hero, no matter if his teamates have a better shot. ------------------
Somebody should start a thread about our coaching staff because they played a key role in this loss.Taking Steve out in the 4th quarter, there stupid ass substitution rotations, and their play calling all attributed to this loss. The only excuse I can come up with for Cuttino is that the coaches though that the ISO would work and that Cuttino would beat Marshall or whoever was on him, but how long can it take them to figure out Cuttino just aint cuttin it tonight? Also, it just hurt me to see him get swatted down the stretch so badly. He made Olden Polynice look like the defensive player of the year ------------------
I won't go so far as saying we're a better team without Cuttino but here are some facts: 1) When Cuttino is the leading scorer the Rockets are 4-5. 2) When Steve Francis is the leading scorer, the Rockets are 7-6. 3) The Rockets lost the two games in which Cuttino Mobley scored 30 plus points. In those 2 games, Cat took 22 and 18 shots and had a total of 3 assists. 4) In the 1 game where Steve has 30+ points (36 vs Dallas), he took 16 shots and had 4 assists. My conclusion after 33 games is that when Cuttino goes into deep ISO-mode, everyone else stands around and the team offense stagnates. The other players in the game tend to also slack off on the defensive end b/c they don't feel "into" the game. (Want another example? - How about the D the Pistons had when Stackhouse got 46). This situation is amplified when Cat uses up the shot clock dribbling around trying to "setup" a defender. By now, Cuttino is no secret. The rest of the league is aware of him and how to defend him. It will vary from team to team based upon factors such as whether a shot blocker is in, does the opponent give good weakside help or do they have overall team speed. I'm not a big Phil Jackson fan, but alot of the Faker$ success last year was that he "sold" the team on trusting their teammates. The Rockets won't go deep into the playoffs until Cuttino learns this (anyone remember Dream having to learn this also?). The coaching staff can help this situation alot by running some back screens for Cuttino and/or other plays where he is moving without the ball. For the most part, the Rockets are a good passing team (when not trying to do the spectacular on every play). ------------------ GATER
