With Jeff Van Gundy as the new head coach of the Houston Rockets will he attempt to make Yao Ming and Steve Francis into a Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant tandem and is it possible. My thought is it will take a few years of this to come to fruition.Yes it can happen if Francis can come to the light and realize that you need a big man like Yao to reach the promise land of that which we call the NBA FINALS.
The Houston Rockets to me are a few players away from becoming a Western Conference power in the NBA for yours to come.I think that because of how Rudy T. coached this season it left little to be desired as to if Houston was gonna be a good team if he was thier coach next season. They showed a few glimpses of what was to come but that was far and few between.Seeing that Rudy hardly designed plays for Yao was another big part of the equation. Now with Van Gundy at the helm we kno that Yao will be a force in the league. But it is all about if Steve Francis can take the role of playing for a coach that wont tolerate slack ness on "D".I see that if Hosuton can adapt to this style of offense that Van Gundy will run it will be like bringing back the days when Hakeem Olajuwon was the center of attention. But will Steve accept that is all that is left.I think he will because he sees how Kobe and Shaq put their differences aside and came together to win 3 titles(I'm not saying Steve hates Yao)but it's about putting aside your own goals and help the Rockets get into the play-offs.

I don't think so. Shaq and Kobe are the best of the best. Francis and Yao are 2nd level stars. Shaq, Kobe, T-Mac, Tim Duncan, KG, and Dirk are the 1st level stars. The 2nd level stars are like Francis, Marbury, Nash, Finley, Yao, Webber, and them...But even though Yao and Francis aren't as good as Shaq and Kobe......the Rockets as a team could be as good as the Lakers were when they won 3 championships because the Rockets also have Cuttino Mobley. They also have a solid power forward backup named Maurice Taylor...who is...well average role player. They have Eddie Griffin....who should still have tremendous potential...and could be a fantastic forward. Then we also have Bostjan Nachbar.....who may be a bust but could be a very good fit for us...and could be like Peja Stojakovic...maybe not as good. So...

    THA? Combination?

I always thought of Francis as a first level star.

I think we have a shot next year. We have to talent, the team just need the heart. I don't see any problem with Yao and Steve. They could both score 20ppg.

Francis will have to have a new mind set! Its got to be Team over Steve Francis Stats. He must stop dribbling, he must learn to pass, he must play defence, he must be a playmaker. That is if he is going to lead this team. This is going to be along hard fought battle for change.

I think Steve's willing to adjust his game if it means winning. He probably just needs time to get used to being able to actually trust his teammates. I mean, before Yao came Steve had to run the whole team by himself pretty much with no help. But last year I saw signs of what will eventually be a GREAT duo in the NBA. Maybe even one of the best ever eventually.

You don't have to be best star to be the champion.
Bill Russell's Celtics is best all time, although Wilt is most
    dominant ever.

francis has the potential to be a first level star, and if he played a little more unselfishly at the point he would be a first level star....he is more talented than nash and marbury, but is considerably younger than them as well...if francis remains at the point and does what it takes to lead and distribute to his teamates as well as keeping his scoring and rebounding average...he will be a first level star....

if francis is moved to the 2 guard spot, he will never be a first level star because he is nearly as great of a scorer as AI, who in my opinion is the only sub 6-5 shooting guard that belongs in the first level of stars...

steve will do anything to win after the alstar break he completly changed his game he started geting more assists and because of that his ppg went down steve is not a point gurd he should shoot first is best for the rockets remeber in the beging of the year we were like almost up at the 3 rd seed in the west becuse steve was averageing 25 points a game thats what he needs to do 25/6/5 that would be enough

Several complicated and specific things need to occur for the Rockets to get to the Finals next year:

    • Tim Duncan breaks his ankles trying to guard Tony Parker during a friendly game of one-on-one.
    • Dirk Nowitzki finds out the knee he injured in the Conference Finals will need surgery.
    • Kobe's shoulder surgery doesn't go as expected, Shaq's big toe grows infections.
    • Kevin Garnett decides to enter the monestery and retires from the game of basketball.
    • Stephon Marbury and Amare Stoudemire break each others' arms arm-wrestling.
    • All the Trailblazers get thrown in jail.
    • Tyra Banks makes C-Webb choose between her and basketball, and he retires within a minute, the rest of the Kings get depressed and join the monestery.
    • George Karl gets in a fight with Ray Allen, kneeing him in the groin, causing him to have to get hernia surgery

first off, steadyballin'... i like the spelling "tha" instead of "the". do you do the same thing with "hot in herre" instead of "hot in here" or "two purrs of aur force ones" instead of "two pairs of air force ones"? it's funny how people from the north, south, and midwest talk differently. my cousin from dallas says "compurder" instead of "computer". weird. the new song called "right thurr" is kinda cool (forget who it's by though).

anyway, van gundy is going to lay the smack down on francis' candy assprin. if it doesn't help his stats, i'm sure it'll be for the better for the team.

as far as the francis/yao tandem being one of the best in the league... of course they will be. i'll give'em two seasons. but again, it depends on steve's mindset on whether he'll sacrifice allstar accolades for team accomplishments.

When would Karl get in a fight with Allen? They only see each other twice a year.

Hehe...I'm from DC and I always mess up and say "com-POO-ter" instead of "com-PEW-ter. But I don't think that has anything to do with being from up there, it's just that I'm an idiot who failed high school English.

I keep on stompin in ma err force ones

actually pgagabriel, i think finalsbound did it on purpose... i think.

you see... if karl gets in a fight with allen, it makes it even more far-fetched that yao/francis will be the most dominant tandem because allen isn't even with the bucks anymore.

 I don't know, use your imagination. Let's say...Karl and Allen didn't like each other when Ray was playing in MIL. Karl just happens to be in the SEA area and sees Ray at a Starbucks. Ray goes, "Just so you know, Coach, I hope you lose Payton for nothing and Desmond Mason gets injured. You're a sucky coach. I hate you." And lets just say Karl gets angry (he is a sensitive man) and starts shouting back. They take it outside and Karl's only defense is to kick him in the nuts.

    • Rockets can beat the Lakers, the suns, the wolves and the sonics, so most of your lame points are dumb.

    • I agree with A: The Spurs are a force
Diagree with B: Mav's are cookie dough on the inside
      Lakers are a force
Suns are scrubs who had a good year
      Blazers are a mess
Kings are a force with or with out Webb
And what the heck doe karl have to do with the west??

Rox can do something next year withthe right role players.
